Sorry about the use of flash and the rain... but I'll try to be descriptive...I'm very sorry about my sorry use of the forums on my first attempt. Hopefully an admin will remove the thread so I can no longer be embarrassed by the mess lol Hosta number one is little..probably one foot across and is extremely blue in early spring with a strong matte color. It has been growing here for two years and blooms white. Hosta number 2 is more like 18 inches across and once again very matte in color, has the golden edges and more rounded shaped leaves with a strong point on the end. Has been growing here for two years and blooms white. Hosta number 3 is a vigorous grower..Pictures here show it taking over my border perenials after I had already split some off earlier this year. Its very glossy in color and is a solid green. It doesn't show much signs of growing in uniform clusters. It kinda just goes wherever it wants and kindly seemed to move its center from last spring. It grows big heart shaped leaves on tall stems. Its been around for two years and blooms white. Hosta number four is shown here very wet and glossy... but dry its actually very matte looking. Like the others its been here two years and blooms white. This cluster here is probably 20 inches wide. Has the elongated heart shaped leaves with lime green edging. The centers are a more dark green with hardly no blue color at all. Hosta number five is very dark green with some blue color in it.. despite the rain its very matte in color and has grown quite uniform in shape... here its probably 20 inches wide. Once again it blooms white and has been here two years. Hosta number 6 has been on the property for a good amount of years. It has grown probably a yard wide. Its an entirely uniform mass cluster of elongated, glossy green, white variegated leaves. Blooms white of course..just like the rest Hosta number seven is a small growth two years old. Its very matte and very blue. Slightly elongated heart shaped leaves with good showy veins. Blooms white. Hosta number 8 has been very little with rounded leaves. Two years old and blooms white. Glossy little variegated white leaves. Hosta number nine are the newest varieties in my collection... Bought from a local nursery labeled as green/white hosta lol... Just transplanted from a gallon pot, these are very glossy and similar to hosta number six except their young and the variegation seems to be more lime colored.... Blooms? And finally hosta number 10... very similar in color to hosta number 3. But seems to grow in smaller 12 to 18 inch more uniform clusters. With the leaves being slightly rippled on the edges and more elongated in shape. Leaves are glossy and blooms white. Growth is two years old....

Absolutely stunning pictures of your beds. How in the world did you do that? All those beds and flowers. I am so envious! The picture of your little girl dancing in the flowers would win lst prize in any photo contest. Love the ice storm pictures too. You truly have a gift. Thanks so much for sharing those photos with us. What kind of plant markers do you use? My markers always either fade, get lost, blow away, or break off. So most of my iris I have no idea of their names anymore.

At our recent staff party, we had to write compliments/comments about each of our co-workers (anonymous)for a game we played and I got a lot of "Martha Stewart" type ones! Luvs, there is faux ice chips in the bottom of the two tall vases. Thought it went with the icy looking crystal trees. DD

Finally, we have pictures! Photo taken before the apartment was fixed and painted. Window is much taller, hidden here by a blind. Faces north. Dresser. It's twin will go in the wall-to-wall closet on the opposite side of the window wall. Wall light. Three of these will be wired together to replace a large, ugly square wall scone. Heirloom bedside table. Small area rug. The background is barely yellow. Blue clouds painting (above bed?) Proposed bedroom layout. Missisng is a photo of the armoire. It's old, plain and of the same medium brown as the dresser. Shelves above the bedside table. A wall of shelves (or three bookcases) on wall opposite bed (I've got over 1,000 books; they have to go wherever there's space). Top shelf will hold my collection of antique Paddington Bears. What looks like a box under the window is a short storage bench; it will have a cushion top and a hole on the side for my shy cat to hide in. It's white. Still need bed linen ... and colour for walls!
