it depends on your micro climate domeman,

there is still a lot of summer type heat left generally up to easter and sometimes beyond if you are in a frost free zone and have a good northern aspect site.

well then if you have the right micro climate you could probably grow them all year long.

All my tomatoes, had fruit fly in them, and I think that is because I put them in too late. I think you might have more problems if you put them in too late.

I live on the coast, just north of Syd. I had full sun.

This year I am going to get the seed in, in spring and give that a go.

do you do any traps for the fruit fly?

i don't think it will matter when you plant tom's in fruit fly season which is tom' season they will get the fruit unless fruit fly mangement is being practised.

i run my wicks all year because unless it is a very cold winter they are there most of the year, doesn't stop some fruits from being infested but saves most and all damaged fruit is destroyed or dumped off site after cutting off the usable bits.
