Help keep my cordyline australis alive

hi, wondering if someone could give me some suggestions to help keep my plants alive. I have a number of cordyline Australis trees in the backyard of my new house. I neglected it a bit and it had a large amount of weeds which I killed off. The cordyline leaves are starting to yellow and the trees look like they're dying.
I have irrigation - didn't water for a few days after weed killer. There was a large amount of snail goo around the garden and I saw a few slugs on the leaves at night. I think they're gone or reduced now - coffee didn't work so I've put snail pellets around. The trees are still looking sickly.
A few have a little brown spot here or there and the tips are going grey now. The surrounding grass things were doing the same thing, but watering seems to have added lots of new growth on them - a bunch of winged bugs fly out of the green ones when I water. The old growth on the green ones have big black spots on them.
