Three of my different coloured Frangipani are out now they look so pretty.

Still waiting for the Pink one to flower it is a little slow this year......Cheers..MM.

Hi MM, your frangis are beautiful. I love the fruit salad one, so many different hues, and the red one is just divine. I grew a red one when I lived in Perth that had the same shade of red as yours. I;m looking forward to seeing pics of your pink one when it flowers. I bet they all smell wonderful.

Thanks Jules, I know the white one is very smelly, the other two are getting too tall now
So I cannot smell them, just as well for me as I steer clear of smelly flowers cant handle them.
I have another FS one thats colours are different again more darker red first time it has flowered
But not as nice as the one up top...Cheers..MM.

Somebody needs to attach images of this. I suspect that it is not a problem at all but, as Jean says, aerial root initials. A picture would solve the mystery in a nanosecond.

My Frangipani's trunck is shriveling & dying !!

If the trunk is soft where it is shriveling, you likely have rot. If there is about 12" (30cm) or more of firm stalk above the shriveled part, I would cut the top off and treat it as a cutting. Cut the end back little by little until you see nothing but clean, white wood. If there is any dark wood, keep cutting. It is important to clean your knife with bleach between cuts. If you have to cut a lot off and are left with a short piece, it may not root, but is worth trying anyway. If there is some firm wood above the soil line, you can cut the soft part off the remaining stalk again until you see clean wood. Seal the cut end with latex caulk and it may sprout new branches. You could wind up with two frangi's where you previously had one!! Check out plumeria101.com for info on rooting a cutting. Mike

Howzit? OK...first off, make sure you do this on a day you're planning on washing your car. I used to work at an auto detail shop and I'm assuming saps are, for the most part, the same the world over and since it hasn't been on your car too long it shouldn't be too difficult to remove. They make products just to remove sap from cars, but nail polish remover does it well, also. (Rubbing alcohol too, but you'll need more elbow grease as it evaporates pretty quickly.) Just get a clean cloth/rag, pour a little of whatever you choose to use on it and start rubbing. If it leaves a sticky film where the sap spot used to be, just rub some more on it to thin it out...it's just sap residue. (We used to get cars that were COVERED and we would just charge by the hour to remove it. It takes a couple of hours if it's really bad on an average size car.) Just make sure you wash the car, at least once really well after, because any of this stuff will stain your paint if you leave it on too long. And use car wash soap, NOT dish soap as the latter will remove any wax already on your car. Have fun this weekend if you choose to do it yourself. Let me know how it turns out. Cheers, Tim

when I prune my frangipani I just cut at the height I can reach. They are a tough tree and seem to respond fairly well to butchering. On Moffat Beach in Queensland there's a tree with a trunk about 80-100cm wide that was attacked with a chain saw - at what looks like head height and it's coming back famously - there was a full skip of "off cuts" taken away after the butcher with the chain saw had finished last september - its flowering now.

I love the smell of frangi's, they are my memory smell of Sydney and transport me back to when I was 10! I have the white and fruit salad too and have what I'm hoping is the red one too but they are only 'cuttings', can't wait for them to flower. Lovely photos too, thankyou YL!! Tina

Can smell them from here MM,they are number one amongst tropical trees for perfume smell,and the flowers are so soft and pretty,lovely pics,greencroc.

I adore frangipanis - love all the colours but think the white is best of all. I like to put them in a float bowl with floating candles for a party.
