Qu. about frangipani cuttings

My Great-Uncle has given me about 5 frangipani cuttings a couple of pinks, a couple of whites and a red. I have let them dry out for about a month (although for part of that drying they were in the sun which I heard is a no no) and now I have whacked them in the ground in a variety of spots from full sun to part shade. I added some blood and bone and watered them in lightly with some seasol (please understand I know little to zilch about gardening so if I've done the wrong thing, please feel free to let me know).

How long will it take them to throw down some roots and start sprouting leaves? I just wonder when I will know whether they've been successful or died on me!

Also, one of them has had the little green ends nibbled at by snails, will this one die or will it grow leaves somewhere else?

Thanks for your input :)
