I can give one to each of you who posted, providing that bodiggly wants the one that I already stuck in a pot to root and that trinity gardener will settle for a short one. I have had outstanding (100%) success with these cuttings- allow it to callous over before planting it, plant it in full or near full sun, do not mulch it, and DON'T WATER IT more than once every one to 2 WEEKS. Don't water it at all if it even sprinkles a little or dews outside. It will be fine planted directly DEEPLY in the ground if you don't over-water it. If it rots under the soil, cut it off again and start all over and don't water it at all. Lovely plant - I hope this works for you!

In its first year in the ground, the Frangipani branch still has the programing from the parent tree in its cells and has already prepared for a new seasons flowering. If you let this happen it will pull energy and nutrients for flowering out of the reserves from within the cutting, as it has not got sufficient roots. This will weaken and delay its ability too develop a selfsufficient root system. This could explain no flowers in the second season that happened with Amelie above. Developing sufficient roots can take at least a season or two, but after that you will have an excellent plant. Grub, it may flower first season, but if it was me I would knock off any flower buds as early as possible in its first year. Feed with Seasol or any other root stimulant to encourage root development. That way you will get a much better plant in a few short years. It is a bit like us when we have go down with the dreaded lurgy. We need a bit of time and feeding up to get our energy back, so we can push that wheelbarrow.

If they become soft and sort of empty inside they have died, as long as they are hard they are alive and working hard to develop roots. It might take a few months, just forget them, water from time to time, not too much as they can rot. The one nibbled by snails should sprout in other places if the tip is damaged, I would put some wood ash or wood dust as a barier against the pests. You are doing very well for a person who supposedly does not know much about gardening, have fun.
