So Many New Plants Blooming for the First Time

Must be the cooler Spring or the damp weather we are having this Season that is making the

flowers look so good, every day something new opens, so many different colours and shades

Thats good timing with Michelle,s Ch de Gaulle, the Canna,s are corkers along with the D,lil,s, up to your usual best MM,very lovely,greencroc.

Great photos as usual. Some nice coloured day lilies. The 2nd one is very similar to one of mine only darker.

The rose is beautiful as are the cannas, pretty colours.

Nancy, It took me till the 2nd time ordering from a different LA seller to get swirling waters. I have only had bad luck with one seller on LA and it was she sent me something else besides swirling water and I emailed her and she was supposed to send a replacement but never did. But I guess I am 1 of those customers you will only hear from twice then I just dont order from them anymore. It did not bloom till the following year so I could not email her about it till a year later. It took forever to get my order from her, had to have Mike handle the seller and she sent my order then one was wrong and there was no way for me to know till it bloomed. Jill

Hello everyone, Many, Many thanks for your encouraging words about both my Mom and the lilies. To those of you who like 'Angelus Curlicue' I bought her from Robin Calderon of Earlybird Daylilies this past spring. Robin sends amazing clumps! Her daylilies are also very inexpensive (I don't know how she can make any money!). I highly recommend her as an inexpensive source for daylilies and you will get very generous clumps. She is also very nice. kitcatclub...yes, I do have voles in my gardens and have lost many lily bulbs over the years. I haven't lost many lately since Fat Cat Nemo and Lily have been patrolling the gardens. I do lose a few each year it seems. Do you have those horrible red lily beetles in NY? They are destroying my lilies and I can't spray because I have so many bees and butterflies about. I really appreciate ALL of you here on the forum, for your friendship and all the sharing. Animals Can make there own proteins, and they make the vast majority of them, Pepsin in the stomach breaks apart almost all of the protein that any animal eats. However some Amino acids we cannot make, there are 8 Amino Acids that Humans cannot make, out of like 20, these 8 are called the essential amino acids, they all contain nitrogen in the form of an aminegroup (amine/amonnia/imine all different forms of fixed nitrogen), What peas, alfalfa and clover have in common is that they are all Legumes and as a result form nodules in the roots where a symbiotic relationship is formed with beneficial soil dwelling bacteria of the Family Rhizobia, which through its metabolic processes fixes atmospheric N2, which the legumes then use to make more proteins than they would normally be able to. Okay, I have something different for the deadheading of the daisies. I have noticed that when I deadhead down to just above a leaf node, it will encourage a bloom to come out of that leaf node. Poppy seeds - go ahead and put them out now. Plant the larkspur seeds in the fall. The end of September or beginning of October are the best times, but it can be a little earlier or later.

Love the daylilies, perfection. The cannas are great, lovely colours.
Yes the roses are wonderful at the moment, maybe a bit of black spot now after all the rain....maybe time for me to spray.

Thanks everyone, there is so much colour in the garden at present and the rain is great.
We had another huge Thunderstorm very early this morning Thursday resulting in 25.5mm of rain
But no sleep as its went on for over four hours and was so noisy on the colourbond roof.
In the still of the night a bird walking on the roof sound like a team of footballers playing a game.
This storm sound like a war, can't complain though as the water is very welcome.
First Day of Summer and I was wondering when the rain lillies will flower as it has rained every day this week.
