Trying to get Mrs. No to participate too, but all she has agreed to is to take the Ball Room Dancing classes with me. Sigh. Now that I have learned that I can say No and she won't hate me, it is easier (not that it has ever been difficult). Would not trade the experience of her 'unconditional' for anything. Even this website! And I know she does not qualify as Garden Junk, but I don't care. I have made too many friends here to switch to a Grandparents forum (is there one?).

To make matters worse, when I told my husband, he said, "I would've bought them!!" And this is a guy whose eyes completely glaze over at the mere mention of gardening. Ah well. Wasn't meant to be I guess.

The only thing you have to worry about with ruellias is that you get the Florida Friendly (STERILE) ones. They will get tall and lovely, about 4 feet or so, but will not spread all over the place. Home Depot sells these, and they are safe to grow. Also, the red ruellia, Ragin' Cajun, seeds a little bit, but does not spread all over. It's a great hummingbird plant, too. Marcia
