No fish in there Jamus, I don't think there would be room for them as the tub the lily is in only leave about 3 inches all round for them to swim in. I was wondering if I put the plant in a smaller pot if there would be room but the leaves cover most of the big tub.
The lily is beautiful. I have one like that but nearly lost it over winter and is struggling to survive at the moment. Flowered for the first time on Christmas day last year.
Marion that looks terrific Well done. I wanted to have a similar water vessel on the back decking. But its the mozzies they are terrible here. Yes I am see the little wasp ( with the help of my Mag glass) close up vision is bad. A wonderful little watergarden...Cheers...MM.
What a lovely little pond. The fish would probably die if it is too shallow, especially in your heat, but they would love to swim under the water lilies.
What a great idea the pond is & it looks lovely too, maybe you could build a cover of shade cloth over it & then fill in some of the area around with shade loving plants, to me it sounds lovely what do you think? make it standing height maybe a chair, it could become a place to escape the heat of summer. {{gwi:2114305}} Now you girls, Here is the size of the tub sitting on a stump, looking for a better place to put it. I think it is gremlins living in the stump under the tub who are enjoying the drinkies. Marion
Love the watery garden Marion - its amazing how the water disappears - my little pond's pump, which I blamed for water loss has been turned off as the frog eggs have become tadpoles and now they drink 9 litres (one bucket) of water a day:-))) I reckon your pond would look great sunk into the ground with some pebbles/plants surrounding it.
Sooze, lovely to hear from you again. I had it on the ground but the dogs kepts drinking the water, so I stuck it on a handy stump till I could find a better place, even then the Rotweiler could reach it so then I put the sanserverias round the edge and that has slowed her down, Must be the taste of the water, I use tank water to keep it filled. It certainly looks better from the top than the sides doesn't it ? Marion
