Hi Elfi your plant is a Epidendrum ibaguense also known by its common name of as the Crucifix orchid.
They occur naturally from Mexico to Colombia and come in lots of colours.

Thanks very much Mistymorn! Gee, they're really pretty. Actually when I first looked at my flower closely I thought it looked a little like an orchid but didn't expect to have something like that in a bouquet with Geralton Waxflowers. Do they grow like orchids? or how do they grow? from seeds? or cuttings? I would like to know please. Thanks a lot for your infos.

They are very easy to grow Elfi and tend to take over a bit they grow from pieces just stuck into the soil
I don't even water mine, they cling to the bark of the trees, and clump up thick with a bit of moisture.

If you look closely at the pic above the plant on the left at the back is a pink one
And somewhere in there also is a orange one as you can see the flower on the right.

I understand they are also becoming weedy in some areas - MM has probably noticed how many seed pods they can make and its full of tiny dust-like seed. they also make aerial roots and new plantlets so if they get dumped in the bush....
Yes well, I like them too, a hardy plant and a bit of colour. As a weed, they can't run very fast in suburbia (where a bull-dozer is a bigger hazard to flora and fauna) and though I pulled out barrels of the red one about a year ago, it was disposed of properly.
Near me are embankments of orange and they look quite cheerful now. I did have, but lost, a white form, and I am trying to get to survive, a yellow one. So much for being "weeds" as I am usually the queen of those.
some years ago there was a hybridist selling bits at a spring show, of very large-flowering ones. Wish I'd been more interested then!!
Misty, if sharing weeds is acceptable, if your pink one gets big enough to make a little plantlet, please keep me in mind and I'm sure I can inflict something on you as an exchange.
