Deutzia x magnifica is the name of a cross covering any and all plants of the same hybrid parentage. There is no one variety of plant with exclusive claim to that name alone. Plant asked about can be seen in your picture to have the leaves of D. scabra. Do examples of D. x magnifica have those same leaves? A quick look at some photos coming up in Google show selections of D. x magnifica with different leaves and flower structure. Keep in mind that misidentified plant pictures are common on the web, you need to go by specific written descriptive information to decide you may have found a name for a particular plant. This needs to be followed up with confirming live specimens examined in person before deciding you may have nailed it down. Keeping in mind that mislabeled specimens are not rare in nurseries and collections, even public ones.

Just toured Butchart Gardens on friday night...WOW!!! We went at 6pm till about 9:30, there was music playing(a live concert) and it was practically surreal with the dusk lighting!!! No words to describe it, I didn't even take a picture as it wouldn't capture/do justice to the beauty!!! I have not been since I was a child(Born/raised/live 60 miles away)...Truly a sight that can overwhelm and inspire!!!

Thanks for sharing. I moved about a year ago and I have it on my list to plant more bulbs this fall. I sure miss my daffodils and alliums. That columbine is very pretty. I visited Butchart Gardens several years ago. It sure looks magical in the spring. BTW, do you know what your plant labeled "Pretty (Got at Swap, don't know what it is, poppy?)" really is? Sure looks to be Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa). A pretty plant but it sure spreads fast! - Brent
