I'd like to know as well. I've got two Early Girl cuttings, from my spring plants, that I plan to put out by the end of next week. I've also got a Sweet 100 cutting to put out, but I don't expect much from that one. The zucchini I put out is growing nicely under the shade cloth. It doesn't seem to take the heat as well as the butternuts and cantaloupe. I've got a straightneck early yellow seedling to put out now. Just started some cucumbers seeds inside the garage. I've had excellent results starting all of my melon and squashes inside the garage. Easier for me to keep everything moist until germination. Will be doing my broccoli and lettuces this way, if I even do lettuce. I'm running out of room as it is. Wade

Well, the SFG and SWCs will all be placed on concrete. We have a huge expanse of concrete on one side of our house (the previous owner ran a taxi company out of the house). Its great because we build and race cars, so we have plenty of room to store and work on them. We do still have plenty of yard, but most of it is shaded, so I'm doing the containers on the side of the house that has the most sun and it happens to be paved. So I'd imagine that would make a difference on the Nematodes. I'm starting some seeds this week, and my parents will be down MLK weekend to help me build the containers... I'm hoping to get an early start on some of the things that can't take our heat. Plus, the 5 gallon SWCs should be movable if needed so I can protect them if it gets too cold. I will also be companion planting as much as possible with the SFG so I can use the least amount of chemicals for pest control etc. Thanks for all the responses!

Some growers hide what they learn or won't share seeds. I love sharing information and seeds with others. Sometimes you can learn new things from sharing. I bought a weather instrument this year, and took some pretty detailed measurements this year. I plan on putting all the data together and posting all of the information on my website. Maybe I will see some growth patterns compared to weather conditions. Someone may use that information to help them grow larger plants than me, but that just means I have to learn more to find a way to get an even larger plant. I also want to make it as easy as possible for someone new to growing big plants and keep their interest in growing giants. Here is a link that might be useful: My giant sunflower website

g'day dale, did you try the courier companies? the only catch you will have to buy some live plant cartons and pack them yourself, but at least they deliver door to door, would guess it is not going to be cheap. there are a couple of franchise companies that are set up to pack up goods in cartons then deliver them, can't think of their names right now but a visit to yellow pages will give results. len Here is a link that might be useful: len's garden page
