Pink Camellia

Almost got the exact colour with this shot it may be slightly pinker
but it looks really delicate in real life. We've had good rain and it's getting cold but good planting weather,I put in some garlic which should be ready at years end.. The grass is not growing much and probably won't have to mow for a couple of months.

Lovely bloom, as I mentioned before, I always wanted to sniff for fragrance.

Thanks Inga, There are many lovely Camellias blooming in this area at the moment .Many of ornamentals are nice but don;t
seem to tolerate the rain whereas the old tough ones' petals don't rot and go mushy..Its been quite cold and hoping this helps the tulips this year.

The root ball may have dried out, tennesseestorm. Also, I could not identify any mulch near the base of the plant; what happened? My comments below assume that your soil is normal or clay. If your soil is sandy then you need to add about 30-50% more water than noted. Check the soil moisture manually to see how dry things are: insert a finger into the soil near the root ball to a depth of 4". If it feels dry then the plant needs water (this one time only, water 1.5 to 2 gallons; but normally, start with one gallon per watering in Spring and increase the amount and the frequency in the summer). If the soil feels moist or wet then do not water. If this area is windy, consider transplanting during the winter. When watering, try watering the soil a little (do not water the leaves), pause and then water again. Mulch (4 inches) will help maintain the soil sort-of-constantly moist and will aid greatly on days when there are wind advisories. Spread the mulch a little past the drip line; more if the location is windy. Luis

Suggest you start Googling (camellia pictures) and you will come up with pages such as those listed below. Look for Curtain Call, Buttons 'n Bows and Fashionata. All show apricot hints. We are just coming into the time of year when the Camellia Shows are on. Take yourself along to as many as you get to. As well as being able to see the flowers in the flesh, you may be able to buy your heart's desire - or at least find who is able to supply it. If you are after an apricot theme in the garden, Camellia tsaii has new leaves of a light apricot colour. There are also creamy yellow (or should that be yellowy cream?) camellias which are very attractive. I have a couple with ruffled centres which are quite yellow.
