come on peeps... they have been dormant since she planted them in October ... they did not lean away from darkness while dormant ... if it were me.... i would search down into the plant.. especially on the ones drooping over the walkway.. and snip a small part out.. until the rest pops upright.. i would look to do this after flowering ... if selection had been high.. i probably.. with my knowledge base.. not have bought the droopy one.. i would have seen it coming ... BUT!!!... lacking a lot to choose from.. this one is fine.. and with a little pruning guidance... over the next year or two.. they can be made fine ... do not love them to death.. ignore.. them.. let them be themselves .... and simply understand.. they lived over winter YOU WIN!!! ... lol ken ps: if an 8 inch branch droops... you cut back to a bud at 6 inches.. half the time.. that is enough removed.. for it to straighten ... and the other half the time... snip 2 more inches off ... but i hesitate to tell you that.. for fear you will go making them into some really ugly round balls ... wait until at least late summer.. before you even think about cutting on these things.. lets let them settle in.. and see what they will do about it ...

I don't think I'm familiar with the daphnes you mentioned (other than the Daphne Odora which I LOVE and wouldn't be without) but I met some folks who live a few blocks away because walking my dog, I encountered a fragrance wafting on the air I didn't recognize and she checked the plant tag for me and it was a daphne caucasica. It's one of the few plants I'm familiar with that wafts its fragrance so much-not as sweet as the fragrance of Daphne Odora but definitely wafting-I first smelled it from 2 houses away)-and it is in bloom on and off early spring to late fall. I worked in a large wholesale nursery that propagated Daphne odora, and we used a very strong rooting hormone, and the cuttings were put under mist. They had a much lower rooting percentage than the rhodys and other shrubs we grew. If I wanted to save that bit of variegation, I would layer it.

you planted it no more than a few months ago .. and within a month of that.. you have yellow leaves ... that is stress from shipping from grower.. to seller to you.. and how you planted it ... why dont you tell us about that ... do not stress it more by moving it again ... perfect watering.. if you want.. shade it ... and in fall when it over all those stresses.. move it if you want ... most alleged shade plants are only tolerant of shade .. and they can do very well in sun .. even full sun sometimes .. if you can provide the water necessary for them to grow there .. in other words.. its not simply a sun issue.. its the amount of water they need in full sun ... and in the PNW on the north side of the house.. im thinking you arent dealing with intense sun .. nor extreme dry ... take a trowel or tablespoon.. and dig a few 3 to 6 inch holes.. AND FIND OUT ABOUT MOISTURE AT DEPTH.. and then water accordingly ... and be patient ... other than stress .. nothing happens that fast in the garden.. a couple weeks .... or a month or two.. isnt that long .. especially with shrubs and trees .. and this is a shrub .. not a perennial .. meaning only.. things dont happen all that fast ... try not to kill it with too much love ... and no.. its stressed.. fert wont help .. and i hope you didnt throw any in the planting hole .. but if you did.. nvm ... ken
