You are likely to have Davidsonia jerseyana which often forms a very bushy plant with basal shoots and other branches arising off the main trunk. I have found that trees left to grow like this produce more fruit but they are slightly smaller. I would just leave it, for cosmetic reasons I have suggested to people to prune it back to a single trunk. Most specimens do have a single trunk, it seems to be genetic if they are bushy or single stemmed.
