Wow, I'd forgotten about this thread and a LOT has changed for my ratings in the last four years. Vaporvac - sorry it took a while to get back to you about your question. Disneyland lasted about 3 years for me grafted from J&P then died, so I replaced it own root about 2 years ago. It didn't come back last winter but that's one that i still pine after and will probably replace whenever I can. There's something about the solid "pow" of color that makes my heart sing, and to top it off my son wrote the name tag for that rose when he was about 9 so it has a sentimental value that way too. Moses, glad this is helpful, but to be really helpful I need to update the listing above quite a bit. For starters, very few Harkness roses are hardy for me in zone 5, with the exception of Samaritan and Volunteer in a normal zone 5 spot and Savoy Hotel and Well Being which are grafted and in my zone 6 pocket. A few of the climbers by Harkness are also hardy - Perpetually Yours and The Prince's Trust are several years old and Ginger Syllabub has survived my zone 4 pocket - but they almost never bloom. Olive is a better bloomer (a few blooms a year) but it's no more than 4' tall after about 4 years. I still do have some Harkness survivors in my yard that surprised me when I did a search - Apricot Abundance and Honor Elizabeth, International Herald Tribune are just barely hanging in there and Easy Does It and Livin' Easy have lasted sporadically but usually die off after a year or two. Armada, Bridge of Sighs, Carris, and Pride of England have only lasted one winter and that's not enough to consider them hardy yet. I've started to nix roses bred by Harkness on principle as marginally hardy in the way that Viragharavian roses simply aren't bred for my climate. It sounds like I have a lot of Harkness roses but given how many he bred and how many roses I have, it's not that many (compare that to 50+ thriving roses each for Kordes, Lim and Austin and you get the picture). All you need to know is, "the delbard rose" is another class of roses. You've got David Austin roses - which usually associate with "English" roses. Here, the Delbard roses - associate with the "French" roses and is bred by the Delbard family. There are about 3 main groups of the Delbard roses: 1) "The Delbard Painters Collections" Most roses in this section are named after some famous painters like Henri Matisse, Camille Pisarro etc. The flowers tend to have stripes - which does in fact looks like it has being painted on. 2)Delbard Couture Collection - don't really know much about them. All I know is, they don't have stripes, and the colours of the flowers tend to be dazzling. I'm thinking of getting Carmagnole - a new 2007 release. 3)Delbard Grand Parfums Collection - here you have strong perfume roses such as dioressence, souvenir de louis amade etc. Again, no stripes. 4)Delbard Rose de Libertie Collection - no scent - but masses of bloom. ie. paris 2000. This is Carmagnole - from the Couture collection - new release.

Salut, Concernant Westerland, il aime le soleil, est très florifère et résistant, quant à Papa Meilland son parfum est suave mais il est moins résistant aux maladies. Rose de Rescht est très parfumé les roses sont moyennes et il se bouture aisément. Bye. N@dine.

I really like the look of a lot of the paler roses, the ones with a hint of colour in the centre, but the heat here seems to do strange things to them...either they bleach out to a solid boring off white the minute temps go over 27 C, and then they shrink and go semi double..pinks go apricotty and purplies go pink... There was another Delbard, "Coeur de Neige" which looked almost pearl like and very attractive; but I was too scared to buy it in case I was disapppointed.
