climbling or pillar roses suggestions?

I am removing two roses, DA teasing georgia climbing on arch, which grew first two years and has slowing starting dying and a climbing called sympathie(only flowers in spring)I have 5 climbling china doll which flower continally, would love something similar but different colour. Was thinking of getting Laura Ford and Pierre de ronsard any other suggestions?

If you are spade pruning 'teasing georgia', I would always be happy to give it a home as you are only 2 hours away from me. I love the look of that rose and have lots of sun, manure and 5 acres of soil and if things get watered (which is not always easy), I have not had any rose do poorly here.

I can offer back a number of irises and daisies but as it is a new country garden, I do not yet have a lot that is multiplying hard.

I drive up to Sydney occasionally. Can also offer a lovely country lunch in the garden if you want a day out.

I can't understand Sympathie only flowering in spring it flushes all the time here.
IF you want a pillar, Paul's Lemon Pillar is just lovely, but why don't you do what the State Rose Garden at Werribee does and plant one each side of the pole - arch. They do this all the time there the feet must only be a foot apart and they flower around each other.
Think of something that would look well together and plant TWO! each side of the post and two on the other if it's an arch.

I think Heirloom has Super Excelsa. That's a lax caned reblooming rambler, not exactly red but it would do. Crimson Showers would be nice but maybe hard to find. Have you heard of Perennial Blue? It has the same growth habit with mauve flowers. Rogue Valley has a number of these Wichurana types(now called R. Lucae).

After watching all the available videos, I learned how to grow tall Austins anywhere in my yard as long as I have one tall structure to grow them as column rose for each on. Crossing canes are Ok. They were destined to be SPed. Now I also get what all that fuss was about around Dec. between people who grew Teas and China's, advocating a non prune method and the others who grew roses who did not mind hard pruning (European roses). Now that I see the big picture, they were all right. Paul, thank you for simplifying all the challenges I faced growing tall Austins and pruning different variety of roses. Regards, FJ

I am going to second the Paul Zimmerman videos on YouTube. He shows you how to pillar a rose and how to care for climbing roses. I planted climber this year and have 3 going up the poles of my arbor. The videos are very informative and once you get the idea it's not so scary lol. I planted climbing pinkies to pillar and they have very lax canes that are easy to handle. I am also growing golden celebration as a climber and if you catch the canes early it would be easy to wrap around a pillar. Also look into Peggy Martin, she has very lax canes and is super easy to grow. Good luck and have fun!

Question about climbling Purple Splash

I have a swath of purple roses and other flowers to blend with "Purple Splash".... pictured here are Purple Splash, Ebb Tide and Intrique. --But I also have Night Owl and Stormy Weather mixed together nearby -- and despite their magenta / dark purple description, I've only seen sort of a dirty wine red in the 3 summers I've grown them. They're pleasant enough (and profuse!) but when contrasted with "true" purples, look pretty washed out. So I'm looking for a replacement climbing rose, one that might "play nice" with Purple Splash. Grateful for suggestions!

Souvenir d'un Ami(tea) dble. med pink with some salmon.
Nur Mahal(hybrid musk)semidble.crimson.
Both in their 3rd year,frequently in flower,little disease,Nur Mahal has just beaten Souvenir to the top of her pillar.As they mature,cut some stems to give blooms lower down the pillar.
