Goose eating dog food
Comments (6)i would say if he is seven, let him eat what the heck he wants. lol. in theory, geese are vegetarians (unlike ducks). but if he likes it and it's not hurting him, i say go for it. maybe the senior formula has less meat than the regular so that's why he likes, sort of like a grain supplement or ? i have a goat who was raised by someone else on dry dog food. goats are also vegetarians. in theory, this should have not only killed him due to the meat but also given him terrible, terrible stones. when i got him, i had to teach him that hay was goat food. he had no idea. he never seemed interested in my dog's food, they ate a "good" brand. then i was costcutting and bought the cheapest storebrand possible. omg. he RAN toward it. it was like he was saying THIS LADY HAS BEEN STARVING ME AND SHE FINALLY BROUGHT ME SOME FOOD. lol. he is extremely healthy, makes pretty baby goats and so forth. he is not eating dog food right now, but only because i do not have a large dog to buy that kind of dog food for. again, i was wondering if it was that the cheaper brand had less meat in it. so, basically a grain supplement. if he's happy. let him be. there might be things that we might not do as a practice for all our animals, but if you don't mind entertaining quirks, then feel free to idulge. in my mind, having a goose that is both happy and ornery really makes up for all the rest. maybe it's god's little joke or something. who knows. just enjoy. cya...See MoreCat eating the dog's food!
Comments (8)Always before, the cat never bothered the dog's food, so this new stuff must taste/smell a lot better. I used to feed her dry cat food but as she got older she started doing a lot of throwing up due to fur balls. Since she tends to be on my bed when this happens, it's been worth my while to feed her canned food since she hardly ever throws it up. My problem is, I can't leave her food down on the floor till she's ready to eat it because a) it'll dry out and/or spoil and b) fat chance that'll happen because the dog will sneak in there and eat it first. When she wants to be fed she lets me know. But this morning, her food was available to her yet she had her face in the dog's dish. I wouldn't plan on letting her eat the dog's food exclusively, because of the throwing up thing, and also because of the nutritional deficits, although I wonder if she would start turning up her nose at her food if allowed to eat the dog's. But mostly, I worry about the urinary tract thing and whether eating the dog's food - in any amount - would cause her to have problems in that area....See MoreRecall of a Few Iams Dry Dog and Cat and Eukanuba Dog Foods
Comments (0)FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 14, 2013 - The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has voluntarily recalled specific lots of dry pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These lots were distributed in the United States and represent roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of annual production. No Salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with these product lots. Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers. Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian. This issue is limited to the specific dry pet food lot codes listed below. This affects roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of total annual production. The affected product was distributed to select retailers across the United States. These products were made during a 10 day window at a single manufacturing site. P&Gs routine testing determined that some products made during this timeframe have the potential for Salmonella contamination. As a precautionary measure, P&G is recalling the potentially impacted products made during this timeframe. No other dry dog food, dry cat food, dog or cat canned wet food, biscuits/treats or supplements are affected by this announcement. P&G is retrieving these products as a precautionary measure. Consumers who purchased a product listed below should stop using the product and discard it and contact P&G toll-free at 800-208-0172 (Monday Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST), or via website at www.iams.com or www.eukanuba.com. Comments (16)My dog has food allergies. I tried lots of the premium foods, Innova, CA Natural, etc. Nothing helped. For the past year he has been eating Timberwolf. You can find it at www.timberwolforganics.com. It is not cheap but he hasn't had any problems on it and now at age 11 is a furry bear. No vet bills for skin issues. You can order directly from the manufacturer and shipping is free. That would eliminate your problem of limited local resources. It would be worth a try. One thing though, he doesn't eat anything other than this brand. You'd have to cut out any snacking on other things. Here is a link that might be useful: Timberwolf Organics Pet Food...See MoreUser
