The Flowers Are Loving It...

Amazing what a drop of rain does to the flowers, a real pep pill kind of thing.

We have only had about 26mm in the past three days but it has made a great difference to the garden.

The flowers are so much brighter, the grass is greener and everyone is very happy me too....Cheers...MM.

Lucky you, we had 7mm on Tuesday except for a couple of showers that blew over too fast to wet much except the washing.

Love the white hibiscus and we have one similar to the other. G banksiis do well around here, we have a couple and several seedlings that have sprung up, usually in the wrong place - why can't they come up in the garden instead of cracks in the path :)

The garden is looking good.

Sheila they are all over. We in Mendocino County, are so fortunate that this county does not allow spraying the vegetation on the shoulders of public roads, even the State is compelled to comply, so there are poppies all over the place. It really s amazing crossing the county line into Mendo-land.

Very nice pics, Laura1. What type of camera did you get? I had Ikon last year and it didn't grow very well for me in a pot in dappled shade. Not sure what I did wrong, but it sure is lovely. I may try again this year if I can find it.

Mine (LAST CHANCE FOR ROMANCE) did have 2 or so blooms last year. It came as one small fan and is three fans now, I just went and looked. All three fans have scapes but the scape on the largest fan is bigger (older) and closer to bloom while the other two look like they just popped out of the fans so you can see them. If I remember correctly, it is registered as VL. I hope my bloom keeps up and I hope for more rebloom. Just getting a scattering here and there. Like WOBEGONE GIRL is blooming FFO on its rebloom scape in back of ARRAKIS SUNSET, which is still blooming.

Carolina Jessamin is beautiful - blooms very early, but I would call it agressive if it gets sun. Mine just about ate the house so I had to remove it. The white honeysuckle is a Texas native and isn't all that agressive. Sweet autumn clematis is pretty - but short bloom period in late summer/early autumn. Suppose to be fragrant, but I never noticed any fragrance on mine. It will lose leaves in a freeze and you can cut it down to the ground in winter and it will be back up the fence by the time it blooms again. Very nice. Don't plant the Japanese honeysuckle. So lovely MM. Isn't it wonderful what a drop of rain can do to replenish the garden and renew one's interest in it. Nothing waters the garden better than nature.

have you put your buckets back in the garage yet? LOL

it is nice to have rain and so surprising the difference between your garden and mine for rainfall - as we are only 100-150km apart......

I agree, that white hibiscus is absolutely gorgeous...I can imagine a large shrub totally covered in those flowers...WOW!

That Swan Lake Hibiscus does have lots of flowers but looking at the 2x2 mt shrub from a distance there is more green than white..Actually I have six on one part of the boundary fence Fantasia ( Pink ) then white they are real bushy and look nice..

GH I have the same problem but with Grevillea robusta ( Silky Oak ) they are popping up every where now after the rain from the neighbours tree and thats something I do not want in my backyard are any 15-30 mt high trees..

I like the G.banksii also and I have a white seedling now so I hope that will grow on Ok as its only 2cms high at present.Yes a drop of rain sure does work wonders......Cheers...MM.
