We had quite a rainfall yesterday accompanied by a gale of wind... nothing new for this part of Canada... Now my 3-4 foot sunflowers are bent over, laying on the ground. My question to anyone kind enough to respond is "will they return to their standing position without my help?" or will they not survive?

Well, you can't just leave them be if you have them in a container! Ken's are growing in the ground, with far reaching root systems in a real live soil system. There's more available water than we think down there! Your plants are totally captive. Allow them to dry out somewhat, but you cannot ignore them for a couple of weeks, out in the baking sun. Ken's guess is as good as any, about what might be the problem. Only you can be the judge about the watering situation. I'd stop fertilizing, though.

Maybe it has just stopped flowering? Some sunflowers bloom repeatedly some don't. If the leaves look good I would say they are just at the end of the bloom cycle. Plant some more seeds and start new sunflowers. Sunflowers like full sun, but here in Florida maybe some shade from the afternoon sun in the summer.

I know that sick feeling all too well!! Eight weeks ago I picked a wood and color that I loved. It's a warm wood tone on beech with rustic knots. It's been so many weeks since I've since it that I began panicing all this week as the cabinets were scheduled to arrive. I was freaking out thinking I had ordered cabinets so rustic that I would need to hang antlers in the kitchen just to 'carry on the theme'!! :-) I've seriously lost sleep over this! Well, they arrived this afternoon and all my fears are gone - - they are stunning! With just the right amount of rustic to look Old World and the warm wood tones are gorgeous. I, too, have a creamy colored island and it's beautiful. Let's just hope it all comes together as pretty in real life as it is in my head! :-) I had visions of a creamy white kitchen as well, but when it didn't go with anything else in my house, I knew I had to lose the dream. But pictures of creamy kitchens will always make my heart beat quicker!! I hope you grow to LOVE your new kitchen - cherry wood and all! I look forward to seeing pictures!
