Terra, I have 'heard' that these varieties of gold edgeing fill in the edges later... Perhaps that leaf will stripe up after a while. I am getting some odd growth like that also, but mine looks like it is thinking about being S.t. 'L' Silver Queen. Who knows. Great looking plant, nicely filled in. Just received a very young one in the mail today. I hope it grows up to be as lovely as the owner's mother plant is. I think is the same as 'Black Sport' or Manny Singer 'Austrian Black' I need to research this further. Ruth Crane was known to give every sport that she got a new name, I don't know why people do that. Norma

Black Gold is the proper name of the OP's photo. Somewhere along the line it started being called Black Coral. So while Black Coral is the common name, Black Gold is its correct name. What is commonly called Black Gold, is actually Compacta. This confused me so bad, but the in house experts got me straight! They know so much about these plants and are so helpful.

Thank you. Yes, they are big. My land, are they big. The larger pot, rhizomes all over. Tall and wide, and double decker. I have to go back there. These plants were 5$. There were plants the looked like Moonshine, but with much narrower leaves, and slightly taller. So many exploded pots. I can't believe that I stepped onto these, in Nowhere Really, Illinois. I'll take pictures next time. Got some seeds while there, too. Three of them. Have you grown by seed?
