Does look like a frosty pink - one of the old stalwarts. But as jesus said, it could be any. I had a frosty pink years ago, and the blooms looked like that, kind of a "quilted" look. I always enjoyed it - and don't know why I don't have one now. It was always one of the most strongly scented brugs I had. Roses. Always smelled like roses to me. Thank you for the beautiful pics - I think I'll get one for myself. (Short/small brug, stays a manageable size.)

I looked up Buxus microphylla var.Koreana 'Green Gem' and the pics and description sound spot on: "Noted for rounded globular shape & extreme winter hardiness, seldom needs pruning." Thanks too Resin I think you gave me a good clue which will help me i.d. this one..."the leaves are too slender and pointed at the apex for that". I was able to determine that it probably wasn't 'Winter Green' because its leaves looked more rounded than mine. I think that noting the pointedness (not a word) will be a good clue for narrowing down which one I have. I tried to find a close up of Green Gem's leaves, but no luck so far. I will be taking a branch with me to the nurseries and comparing it with 'Green Gem'. Thanks for letting me know that the Korean Boxwoods are a good choice for wintery zones, Gardengal. BTW...do you do mail order? Do you have boxwood standards! :-) Eileen

Thanks for the replies, but we are still on the track for ID of this plant. Greenthumbzdud said it looked like a Begonia 'Bonfire', but if you look at the leaves, the leaves on my plant have jagged edgies to the leaves, and the red part of the plant is quite meaty. Someone else mentioned a cactus. No, definately not a cactus. Any other ideas would be welcome and thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hello vna09, your yellow wildflower looks to me like Rudbeckia amplexicaulis. It's often discussed under the name of Dracopsis amplexicaulis and it is an annual... Michel André
