All they have to do is click on your member name, then 'send email'. That's the only way that it would say it was coming from GardenWeb. I'm sure they are just selecting everyone who's active on a particular forum. It may be annoying, but it's not personal. You said it gave you the creeps; what about it was creepy? BTW, I think you should do like Jo and report it to GardenWeb. And of course never, never open links that come to you from unwanted emails! Kate

have you tried with a different browser on your cell phone? I have several browsers I use on my phone, firefox, opera mini, and dolphin HD, all are very good but some work better for some things than others. For GW I often use firefox since I can add on adblock plus and easylist which helps block a lot of the ads that make it almost impossible when on a cell phone sized screen. So you may want to try that they are all free and will install in seconds, it you decide you don't want them just go to manage applications and uninstall it. Your phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread so all of those browsers should be easily available to you from the market. you might also go into your browser settings on the phone and clear all the cache and cookies and stuff see if that might help. To do that on the phone open your browser window then click on your menu button then on the more option , then settings scroll through there to find the cache, cookie, history form data etc try clearing all that it might have saved a corrupt cookie or something.

Not a virus....but that darn FIKA add that keeps popping up on the right hand side of the screen keeps freezing up my internet browser! I've had to shut down and restart so many times I'm about to stop coming here... Does anyone know how to contact GW and let them know of the problems with the ad? (I'm assuming GW would care....perhaps I'm being overly optimistic. Ha-ha.)

Are you subscribed to the particular thread? If so you get notices of responses? Maybe some of the people choose not to have their email address exposed in their response? Just guessing, I have never seen anything like that.
