How are members doing with this site ,I can't reply to posts ,I can't send emails to members via the site my zone is changed my birthday Jan 1904 don't you think I'm a bit old to do my own gardening ha!ha!

Trying to keep a sense of humour here, apparently they changed over to a new server which caused all these problems. Try and hang in there. cheers pam

I'm afraid that apart from the bleaching, which may be due to insufficient hardening off, your bok choy plant is already bolting. You can see the central stem elongating as it prepares to flower. So essentially it's toast. You could salvage any usable leaves and compost the rest.

Your Briggs model number seems to be missing a "digit". Is the number actually maybe 446070, or maybe 46x070 (x being unknown numeral). Or even some other 6 digit number. Briggs model numbers are 6 digit numbers, except for the very smallest displacement engine families. I would certainly hope any rider cutting 42" will have more than 4 cubic inches of engine displacement. :^) Anyhow, I will surmise that the engine has actually broken a connecting rod. To determine this you would need to remove the spark plugs and WATCH the piston by looking into the spark plug holes with a flash light. Crank the engine (or turn by hand) and watch each piston for motion. One of the pistons may not be moving. If a piston is not moving, but the engine crankshaft is turning.................that connecting rod is broken. Only a tear down and look see will disclose the extent of the damage. Oil is cheap.......even if it's $10 per quart, compared to the lack of oil. This post was edited by mownie on Wed, Jul 31, 13 at 12:23

Captan is a fungicide only. It won't kill the mites but may help control the Early Blight. Strip off all those affected leaves and dispose of them away from the plants. This is one of those situations where the attempted cure is worse than the problem in the first place. :) The mites alone don't do much damage and can be controlled with any horticultural oil spray. But the constantly wet leaves, pressure damaged stem, and over-watered soil have created new, more serious problems for you. Next year I'd suggest only 2 plants in that small space and spaced far out away from the wall as possible as well as some substantial mulching of that soil all around the plants. For this year about all you can do is strip off affected leaves as they develop, avoid any further damage to the stems, and spray fungicides weekly. Good luck. Dave

Bev I am annoyed that they have not answered your emails but they have sent me one yesterday about adding a certain rose pic to the Hortiplex database, mind you I wrote to them a few weeks back but thats beside the point, they should fix up their problems first.

But like everything on the website its not working either, so I cannot do it.. I cannot even see your Birthday on your page. I will be very sorry to see you go, but then have a go at what Dee suggested and perhaps we will be reading your posts very soon....Cheers..Mary-Anne.

Bev, sorry you are having so much trouble,
Just think of the sights and such you have seen since 1904, and still remember them, ouch !!!!

I just wish that Spike would come back to us and run it the way it was, so much easier to navigate this forum compared to some others I have looked into.

A bit like having the football and cricket on the comercial stations, Henry likes to listen on the ABC, no comercials to interupt the loooooooooog days of cricket.
