betta fish

I am new to betta fish. I have two large vases with a peace lily in each and a straw to make sure they always have O2 and a moss ball to help with pollution. They sit next to each other. One has a female, the other a male. I think I can see the vertical lines on my female, and my male made a bubble nest. I removed the peace lily and placed the female in with the male. The male did the cute little ritual of puffing up his gills, but that is when I noticed by bubble nest had broken down. I am assuming it was because I moved the lily and ruined it. I put him in a different habitat where I wouldn't need to remove the peace lily to place my female with him. Will he make another, or was that not a bubble nest?
