Missing Bluebird Babies - Help!

I am new to this site and new to having a bluebird nesting box in my yard. It was a gift for my May birthday. I had a bluebird nest in it within four days of putting it up!! I was elated. There were 4 eggs laid and 4 babies were born about June 3. (I do not look in the box everyday.)

Both mama and papa have been feeding the babies constantly. They take them mealworms I provide and other bugs from the lawn. Everything was going well until this morning. Before I left for work, I noticed that something was amiss. It just didn't seem right out there. So, I went to the box and there was nesting material coming out the opening. I opened the box and the nesting needles were all messed up, not neat and tidy as before. I couldn't see anything but needles, but was very worried. NO TIME to look further and I didn't have my gloves on. I had to leave for work.

I thought about the baby birds ALL DAY LONG at work and had a bad feeling. When I got home and checked the babies were GONE. The male bluebird has been around this evening, but there are no signs of the female. I know the babies are too young to fledge. Do you think a raccoon got them? I am soooo upset and could just cry.
