Terrybull: What are you using for potting soil? In Southwest Ohio, I would be concerned about only needing to water once a week in the summer. I am using Al's 5-1-1 in my baskets this year. Last year I used a quality nonsoil mix with composted bark and peat. When it got very hot and dry, I had to water every other day. I don't think that's unreasonable. Four weeks into this season, I think the 5-1-1 has already proved it's worth. We've had unseasonable cold and record breaking rainfall. None of my hanging coir-lined baskets are soggy, and they are growing well.

I've used Shutter-Renu on my house shutters since it came out. Excellent results in restoring the color and leaves the shutters with a soft gloss sheen. I recommend it, unless you're wishing to change colors, then you'll need to clean and repaint with Fusion or other Vinyl/Plastic paints.

Ok, I know what you mean about visualizing, I'm like that too. Here goes....the sill cap is a "cover" that goes over the existing window sill. It is simply cosmetic as it is larger than the existing sill and would make the shutters "blend" better with the sill. This is an outside mount. From the side, as if you rested your cheek on the wall, a gap is visible because the sill cap can't slide toward the window quite far enough (because of the "fancy" trim on the sill edge). I'm still practicing with that new camera. Could anyone post pics of their plantation shutter/sill situation? Maybe I would luck out and be able to say "yes yes--like your situation!" Thanks for trying to help me figure this out.
