I need help chosing colors...front door & shutters
Comments (25)Hi! I am quietly observing! Ha! You are all right in some way---the roof is definately gray. The door is NOT centered and the mailbox does belong to the left of the door (the wider side). I really don't know what the original builders were thinking to not make it centered, but it was going to entail way too much to change it when we resided. Our intensions are to put the house up for sale this summer/fall. We bought it and slowly redid the entire house inside and out-now we're feeling the need to get to the country - and likely start all over again! :) With all of that said-I'm not looking to spend a TON of money, but we will definately be painting the porch, putting the window boxes up, painting the door, putting new lights/lanterns up, and a new mailbox mounted to the house. Thank you so much for all your help...I will definately post pictures of our progress!! We're starting on it this weekend!...See MoreHelp-what to do with this brick trim around front door ?
Comments (10)Because the brick around the door is sheltered by the overhang you could probably paint it without having to worry about damaging its ability to breathe. However, there is an alternative way to change the color of brick and mortar. I've been fascinated by DYEBRICK since I first discovered the company. The non-toxic, water-based stain soaks in so the texture of the brick is retained. In addition to traditional brick colors they offer LimeLike that can significantly whiten even dark brick. Final color is determined by dilution rate with the fixative. HERE is a photo of one job. The only problem is that people from the U.S. and Canada have to order the product from England....See MoreNeed help with window trim color, shutters, and garage door color
Comments (19)If you make the other changes as suggested, I don't think you'll feel the need to paint the brick. There's no sense creating a maintenance issue where there is none now. The house has the potential to be very handsome. Some pretty pots with flowers on either side of your door will add some color as well. Don't forget that nothing looks pretty this time of year when trees are bare and lawns are brown....See MoreNeed help with exterior house colors; shutters, front door.
Comments (4)Very first impression is there are way too many narrow shutters and none fit the windows properly. What is not taken advantage off is the mill work over the windows. If painted the white of the windows, the windows would be lovely without the shutters. Shiny red front door….....See MoreBeth H. :
