Purchased at a grocery store, my money would be on "Stargazer", a very popular Oriental lily. The Orienpet hybrid type "Anastasia" could be what it is as the flowers do look somewhat similar - but without any identification tag included with it, it could be whatever the supplier wanted it to be??? However, the short and sweet - if you bought it in bloom, each bloom usually lasts for under a week and the petals simply fall off leaving what is called a "candelabra" of spent blooms. This candelabra can be cut off. The lily only blooms once per season, oftentimes for a long time as each individual bud opens in succession - no amount of care will give you a second bloom, however. Don't think you did much with the self-pollination idea. Need an expert, but I think most lily cultivars are self sterile - they can't use their own pollen. Lilies are self contained units growing up from a bulb - the bulb pretty much has what it needs to grow, bloom, set seeds (if you let it), and the main stem to turn yellow/brown and woody. This dying back process is needed to replenish the bulb for next season. Watering heavily and often will pretty well insure the potted bulb will rot - they like well drained soil. Unlike here in cold climates where lilies can be left in the ground year 'round, in southern Florida lilies would need to be given a cold period called vernalization if you don't get long periods of sustained cold temps. Probably dug up and refrigerated for a period of 6 weeks or so. Lots of info on the internet by searching Orienpet lily Anastasia or just simply how to grow lilies in southern Florida.

I agree with ucvinero. Without generosity of some greatest chile growers all around of this globe, I would not have such selection of plants what I have now. I could have offered seeds for Condo, but I like more the milder C chinenses and my first Chocolate Habanero has not yet had any ripe fruit. I have to admit that the capitalized first letters annoy me and make the messages difficult to read for me. English is not my first language and I try to write my messages clear and sometimes even type them in word processor, which has spell checking. Sari

OP here... bus_driver: Our current furnace is natural gas. I think we will have to devote some sort of space in the basement for a heating apparatus. I've been eyeing Electric Fireplaces, too - to supplement our secondary source (if that makes sense!) and because they look really cool. We don't want or need air conditioning. srercrcr: I guess saying Denver is "mild" is a matter of perspective. I grew up in a climate where below zero for the entire winter was the norm. So Denver is mild to me :) but you have a point! mike_home: Nope, no heat calculation done yet. Will follow up on the Manual J Calculation. Basement is entirely below grade - that surprises me that the heating requirement will be low. Thanks for the lesson. sean_m: will take a look at the split heat pumps - what sort of heating is it? wisehvac: We replaced the 50 gallon water heater last winter because it went out. DH really wanted a tankless. Maybe it's time to reconsider... Thanks all - I'm learning a lot. Feel free to keep sharing, no matter how basic you think the advice is!

yes if you have wireless in your home through a router which it sounds like you do then you have wifi that is all wifi is a wireless network connection no matter where it happens to be located. 4G is a term associated with cellular networks it is supposed to be the fastest protocol at the moment but it is not available every where so you may ask for 4G and pay for 4G but you may not get 4G you will get what ever band is available in the area you are in and in some areas if there is no coverage by that cellular network then you may not have any connection. you will have to have a cellular data plan to be able to use the 4G ability on the tablet, that will be a monthly fee with some cellular provider. I am not concerned with having that type of connection on my tablets I use mainly wifi connections. I do have a smartphone which does do all the tricks and does have a 4G plan including data so I can use my phone to access the internet where there are wifi networks available free or I can use the cellular data plan and access it through the cell towers if I am in a zone that has coverage. You will pay for that data on the cellular networks if you go over your allowed amount and it can really add up fast. So you just have to decide if you think you will use the 4G connection and if it is worth it to have to purchase a monthly plan to cover usage. I have no idea why it will cost $500 when the google nexus is so much cheaper and is a decent tablet. If it is going to be a 10 inch instead of the 7-8 inch that will be part of it. any cell company has a map you can look at that supposedly shows the coverage areas for the various bands like 4G 3 G etc.
