Need Seed germination tips for hot, dry weather

The full sun soil is too hot for many seeds right now. You will have to germinate indoors (I just germinated about 2000 seeds between collard, kale, winter onions, lacinato, daikon, bok choi, turnip, and a surprise half tray with seeds collected at the bottom of the brassica ziploc. The germination took about 48 hrs), set outside IN SHADE, wait a month and transplant in the evening, during a cool spell if possible, if not a rainy one. I use large trays, actually scavenged party trays, no cells, just 3 inches of compost and not too much water. For half trays, I cut a piece of carboard and insert across the compost. I seal them, using the original base, until germination starts. Basically winter sowing in summer, but very efficient.

I got my seeds in the mail today and was very impressed. Heather, you did a great job keeping track of such a large number of participants and getting the swap in order. I got several seeds that were on my "desperate to have" list, and quite a few others that I'm very interested in and looking forward to trying. Thanks so much! Nothing personal, but maybe this conversation would be best if moved to the Exchange section of this forum. It is typically where seed exchange correspondence goes and it's more likely one will respond if they have something to offer for SASBE or exchange. Just a suggestion.

You've already emailed me and I'll be sending those out to you as soon as I obtain your address. As for everyone else...GET A GRIP! This is what we are here for and to neglect a decent response to someone based on your insecurities of an exchange "return" is pretty assumptious. Everyone has to start somewhere and If you were treated this way in the begining then this forum would have progressed NONE! So as for being self rightious pepper gardeners...get over it.

I agree with ucvinero. Without generosity of some greatest chile growers all around of this globe, I would not have such selection of plants what I have now. I could have offered seeds for Condo, but I like more the milder C chinenses and my first Chocolate Habanero has not yet had any ripe fruit.

I have to admit that the capitalized first letters annoy me and make the messages difficult to read for me. English is not my first language and I try to write my messages clear and sometimes even type them in word processor, which has spell checking.

yeah i have no problem seein someone request some cool seeds, chileheads are full of love.
