Just_me: Last year was my first year, and I put my containers in several spots, some being in full sun, just to see what worked best. The containers didn't care where they were, they all grew equally. The only difference I found was that the ones in full sun dried out a lot quicker, and if I didn't either take the top off during the day if it got too warm they fried. I too would wait until they get their first true leaves. They will be a little stronger come plant out time. Good luck!

I am a huge bargain hunter when it comes to seeds. I rarely buy seeds at "full" price. I also rarely buy plants at full price also, unless it is something that I know will never go on clearance and that I absolutely adore. I even buy seeds at the dollar stores for cheap cheap. One year I had so many seeds I couldn't sow them all, so I ended up storing them and I forgot about them. I ended up finding them about 3 years later after the date. Well I finally sowed them and I figured well I will sow a few extra since they are so old. Oh my I had so many seedlings that I am ashamed to admit some went to waste. Thompson & Morgan has a lot of seeds right now for $0.99, they have two areas for seed sales. One is just all seeds that are reduced. Then they have another area that the seeds in that selection are $0.99. T's has all of her seed packs for $1.00 she has a great selection of seeds. She has some that are more rare and some that are common. I was able to pick up 26 packs from her for a total of $30.95 that includes shipping and handling also. Which is a great deal!! I am not into hybrids since I enjoy saving seeds, and usually some of the "new" plants are hybrid. So I prefer the oldies but goodies, and I love natives.

It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to keep track of who you are trading with. You print a copy of the trade for your records, or save it into a notebook. An easy way to do this is to print out the address correspondence and write on it the day you mailed out your envelope. Save your correspondence in a brightly colored pocket folder and use it ONLY FOR YOUR TRADES. Keep it by your computer and never walk it out of the room!!! If you don't have a printer you can keep track of your trades by writing down the info in a spiral notebook. Use one sheet per trade/sase. Write down the email of the person you're mailing to, what was sent, what is expected in return, and write down the day it was sent. An excellent suggestion is to put a piece of long ribbon through a ring-hole in the spiral binder and TIE IT TO THE COMPUTER TABLE so it can't disappear. When the seeds come in you can look up right away who they're from and send a THANK YOU via email. Then draw a line through the page to indicate that the trade has been completed....now you're done! I save my "address" emails to a folder in my inbox that I've created called "seed trades". When the seeds come in, I pull up the corresponding letter, and I hit the "respond button" and I say, "thanks, I got the seeds!". Once you say THANK YOU your responsibility is done....all GOOD TRADERS acknowledge the receipt of the other trader's seeds and say thank you. You can then delete the email or move it to another folder called "completed trades". Once you've sent a "Thank You for Trading" you're done with the trade. Store your seeds where they'll be safe and dry until you sow them, and dream and plan for your new garden and future trades. =====================================
