I'm having the almost the same issue with zucchini. I only got 4 zucchinis. Down at the base of the plants, there appear to be a few female flowers, contrasted with many male flowers. Tomorrow I plan to try to pollinate the females(using a little brush or even one of the male flowers, stripped back). I've got many bees, but they're more interested in the many tomato flowers nearby, and I'm guessing that once a bee goes to the male zucchini flower that he's not going to the female zucchini flower afterwards. Anyone else have ideas on the subject? Good luck if you can try this, by the way.

I went this morning and performed an operation on the plant. I got so many worms out of the poor thing, i hope it survives. I just couldnt bury the sections where i had to cut into since the plant is lying on a pile of sticks and rocks.

I think I would pick COQUETTE DES BLANCHES because it has not gone one day this season without blooms - most days it is loaded with them. Even blooms steadily in 100 degree heat. It is the most delicate pink, with a green button-eye, varies from perfect quartered and swirled cups to camelllia shaped blooms. The fragrance could be stronger, but is lovely in quality, and the spent blooms have a strong, spicy fragrance that makes deadheading a joy. Also - good vigor, pea-green foliage outlined in red, and clean, clean, clean all season. Wish I could post a pic, but am still tech challenged. If we don't count minis, I'll pick one of those too. The old mini BABY DARLING from Ralph Moore has many of the same qualities to recommend it. Reliable, healthy, blooms without pause. Delicate apricot blooms of a camellia or water lily shape, and a strong and piercing lilac fragrance. On bad days I have considered redoing my garden with only these two roses en masse (oh, and maybe HOT COCOA...).

Most climbing roses need to have their canes bent nearly horizontally as this encourages the laterals to break all along the branches instead of only at the top giving a fuller dispaly of blooms.
