It's a not uncommon occurrence but if you want to be sure of keeping it, taking a cutting would do it. Otherwise I think having both varieties on one bush is kind of interesting. I had a friend (no longer with us) who kept one of these going for years.

A parti-colored flower is a Chimera-that means both genetic material is there-it is possible to have a stem that is half an half so that you can see a difference even in the bark like someone painted a line. I have Quatre Saison Blanc Mousseaux that has done this-that is a moss rose that reverts to Quatre Saisons (the old 4 seasons Damask) The reversion is the unstable genetic mutation going back to the original. I read up on sports when it happened to my plant-had to get a new Moss as the whole plant got taken over by the more vigorous original. patricia

I think it's a weedling. I've never heard of a sport unattached to the momma plant. And yes it's true that 99% of the time that you get a green plant, you can get a variegated one on rare occasions. I've never worked with Antioch so I don't know how stable it is or isn't. In any case, it's a nice looking plant. If you end up registering it, however, it should be unknown x unknown for the parentage. Cuz you just don't know for sure. Steve

It stems from a per capita coarsening of culture that results from excessive emphasis on leisure and "self-fulfillment" over kind, liberal and mutually beneficial other-interestedness, including the art of compromise. Basically, itÂs a reflection of (I dread) a possibly irreversible degradation of a societyÂs educational support system, where ignorance is celebrated, passion alone is the measure of credibility, and willful ignorance (blindly hateful bigotry, by any other name) is idolized as the ultimate "integrity."
