Does your orchid look something like this..... If so you have a Phalaenopsis and there is a mountain of information to be found on the net or by reading past posts on this discussion page. Still puzzled? Give some details of where and how you are trying to grow the orchid for detailed advice.

Likely you have a few packages of rib chops and a few others or loin chops...a bone in leg roast or 2 LOL! a couple of packages of shanks....and perhaps a saddle roast....depending on how you had it cut. I hope your lamb is young....sometimes the 4H market lambs are a month older than I like and have more fat than I like. The fat carries the gamey taste that some object to....so if it tastes gamey to you the next time you cook it remove as much fat as you can. Sometimes I butterfly and bone the leg....rub the inside with several cloves of garlic, crushed and oregano and olive oil. Let it sit for an hour or so....then squeeze fresh lemon over all and grill it medium rare...very yummy. I also grill the chops medium rare.....and roast a leg with lots of garlic as Islay says. The ground lamb makes good burgers or moussaka or meatballs to serve with a Greek style tomato sauce. Linda C

I attended a gardening class last Friday and I liked the teacher's method. She starts a lot of seeds in a small container. When ready to repot, she lets soil get dry. The pots are flexible plastic so she squeezes and shakes so seedlings come out in a mass. Because soil is dry, they are easy to lift apart by seedling leaves (she doesn't wait for true leaves). Makes sure potting soil is very damp otherwise it never gets wet enough. Puts soil in new pot, makes a hole with chop stick, drops seedling in. Gently pushes soil around seedling. Gently dribbles water around seedling which causes soil to compact around seedling. Adds more soil and waters a little more. Good luck!

I agree with everyones advice on amending just a hole. It can create conditions that will kill your roses. I did that in the beginning and kill several. It took me a long time to understand my soil. It is fantastic mid-wesrtern loom. But it has a deep sandy, silt with green clay mix in as a subsoil. All of my beds are raised at least 6 inches and one as much as 2 feet. They all slant to a drainage spot. But thats here where some of the best perennials seldom survive more that two years. They rot if we get to much rain. For my area an inch of water a week is a death sentence for a rose. Yes they like a moist soil but they also like to dry out a bit once established. If I get my roses in early while my ground is still wet from winter they seldom need more than one additional watering. The roots well follow the water down where there is always moisture available. Do you have any shrubs? I would suggest planting the roses the same way you did your shrubs and mulch well. Next year when you fertilize keep your clay soil in mind. You will not need nearly as much fertilizer as you here about here. Just like your perennials feed the top of your soil with good organics and let the worms do the work for you. Roses are tough shrubs and really do not need much pampering. Well except Burgundy Iceberg that will need a spray program. Unless your area is a dry environment like southern Ca. Relax enjoy your roses everything will eventually fall into place.
