I had to chuckle, I was going through a box in the basement and I found a bunch of stuff I'd taken out of the ground for storage, not after last season, but after 2012 season. Most everything was desiccated except for two dahlias, which showed sprouts. I planted them. Reminds me, I better go check on them. But yeah, do it yesterday, they might make it. May not bloom, but should give the roots a chance to reconstitute ⦠_~ dave

yea i decided not to freeze it after all because my family will become very violent when they find rotting food in the freezer. they don't garden and the ones who do like my dad don't even know what composting is. in the end im just keeping it in a tuppawear container and when it does over flow i will resort to a 5gal bucket with a lid. this way it has time to decompose at least unlike before where i just put in the food fresh and it takes like a week just to start molding and is still untouched. i found out the hard way that they like the moldy stuff better then the fresh stuff

Are you using the really small cans of wet food, or the bigger ones?? I'd assume the smaller ones would be gone in 4-5 days. Unless you're giving quite small spoonfuls, then I suppose it would take much longer than that. If you don't want to freeze them (which btw, I also think is a great idea) you could still give her a little more wet food than just the spoonful, and decrease her dry a touch, just for duration of being medicated. You wouldn't have to switch her completely, just cut back the dry a bit, and give her a bit more of the wet stuff, to make it go faster. Or if a can is on the verge of going bad and you have more than a spoonful left, I'm sure you could mix it with her dry for a bit of a treat for her.

I love cabbage, and it keeps for ages in the frig. I just cut a sliver off the darkened side that is cut and keep on using it. It's great value. I buy carrots by the bag, and a 5 lb bag fits in one of those large plastic hinged containers that baby spinach, mescluen (sp) mix, etc comes in. I put a paper towel over the carrots and snap the lid shut. It keeps in the frig for quite a few weeks. I always keep my onions in the crisper.
