Bringing brown to life
Comments (40)A larger rug will work fine so long as there is no corner of it in front of a doorway, and no edge bleeding into the natural path. People don't have any trouble stepping on and off the sides of a rug while moving through a space, but it throws off the scheme and confuses the walker to have to walk half on and half off the rug, or to choose to shift off the middle of the natural path to walk either on or off it. I'm not a fan of white walls with brown furniture in traditionally scaled rooms. I think it makes enlivening the scheme and balancing the colors much harder, and looks too much like an apartment, unless there is major architectural drama in the space....See MoreWhat's your favorite light gray/taupe?
Comments (9)The 2nd pic, the half wall is a different paint color. This paint is a full spectrum paint so it has about 8 pigments. Paint reflects the objects nearby. I have a lot of brown stuff as you can see. Ellen has several other colors that might be the shade you want plus you can get custom colors made. I have a cat that is a taupe color - she seems gray in some light and brownish in others. Her sister is more gray than brown....See MoreNeed color ideas for home exterior
Comments (1)Weathered Wood roofs look very nice with greige/taupe colors. Don't go too grey, instead lean a little more to the khaki side of green/gray by incorporating more brown in the color. Take a look at Sag Harbor gray HC-95 or Clarksville gray HC-102. When you try a swatch on the house paint it high enough to see with the roof color. Don't worry about the center color of the painted brick until you settle on the main color. Just some ideas, hope it helps. Very nice house and beautiful yard!...See MoreStone or brick that coordinates with Hardie Monterey Taupe?
Comments (4)Pretty house...we ended going with a stone that was a little more neutral but one of the stones our architect liked and I almost chose was this one. It looks a lot like the one in your picture as far as colors but I actually like the shape better. In person it's very versatile....See Morejyyanks
