She mentioned on Christmas Eve, after mass, they had meat pies made the same way as her meat stuffing ingredients growing up. She's French Canadian,.

Please share yours. I'd like to compare hers with yours.

Her stuffing was basically ground meat with allspice, cinnamon, etc. Yummmmmmmmm! I liked it better than the turkey.

Ok here's my recipe.
1/2 pound of ground pork
1/2 pound ground beef
1 med. onion chopped
1/4 cup of water
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp each of cinnamon, cloves and savory
This is for one 8in pie. Cook everything together for about 20 min.Remove from heat and If too much juice you can add 1 tbsp of bread crumbs and wait 10 min to let it absorb the juice. You can add more as needed.

I make meat pot pies using Pillsbury crescent roll dough. Basically, roll out four triangles (form a square) , top with meat and vegetables, top with the other four triangles, crimp the edhges and bake.

My grandmother used to make something similar, but she added some small diced potato.

They look wonderful! I love meat pies - tourtieres. I am going to copy your recipe and see if I can make them. I am pastry challenged though so I would have to use Tenderflake pie shells.

Here is a T&T pie crust. Check in our recipes, I think there are 2 there to choose from.

Aunt Carol's pie crust
1 egg
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon WHITE vinegar
7 tablespoons water
1 cup shortening (CRISCO)
3 cups flour

BEAT egg.
ADD salt, vinegar, and water.
ADD shortening. BLEND with fork, while ADDING flour about a cup at a time.
FORM into one big dough ball. THEN DIVIDE into 3 equal-sized dough balls (or you can divide it into 2 equal-sized dough balls like I do sometimes).
ROLL OUT thin on a lightly floured surface and then PLACE into pie pan of your choice.

Note: Prepared pie shell should be put into the refrigerator 30 minutes before filling and REMEMBER all fruit pies should be baked on the lowest rack in your oven

I made it easy I bake like chicken, we like chicken,bake, about 1 hour before done I add veggies,mixed frozen veggies,I add a little chicken stock gives it great flavor,add cooked chopped potatoes,when ready I remove chicken to cool,I make a gravy with drippings,then add back veggies, shredded chicken,I put bisquits on top ,bake as long as the busquits call for mmm quick and really good.
