No snow in Minnesota for Christmas. I have to post a picture from last JULY in the Bighorns for a snowy scene.

My daughter has taken in the elves laundry. Here it is, hung up to dry.

Outside Playing, Gougane Barra is very scenic and has such a peaceful feeling. That was the view from our room where we stayed. The walk around the grounds was so enjoyable. I don’t think that one could take a poor photo there.

@chartreuse scorpion, when we went to Ocracoke in 2011, the Outer Banks highway to Hatteras was still washed out from damage by hurricane Irene. The only access was by a 2 1/2 hour ferry from the mainland, so that’s how we got on the island. Very few tourists. It was really nice.

Alisande, What a treasure that card must be to you! Your Father was a a man ahead of his time. These days, almost every card I get is a family picture. In 1943, I am sure that it was very rare.

Jasdip, I am amazed at how much Bud and Rudy look alike! I'd forgotten about Bud's markings and coloring!

Gazania, I never thought of how unusual a family photo Christmas card must have been back then, but I'm sure you're right. My parents made them for years, starting before I was born--my mom doing the artwork and my dad taking the pictures and printing all the cards in his darkroom.

When I was a child we would sit around the kitchen table together and look at all the cards we received, commenting on each one. I tried to continue that tradition when my children were growing up, but their interest was limited and their father's interest nonexistent. So now I'm sitting around the Kitchen Table with all of you, sharing again. :-)

We got a bit of snow a couple of days ago, just enough to make it look pretty for Christmas. I took this in my back garden.
