They are so precious. Newly hatched birds, of any variety, just melt my heart.

That's so sweet. It's hard to realize those cute little creatures will soon be beautiful, colorful birds.

Wow, something so ugly can turn into something soooo dog gone pretty. I wish I had more cardinals in my yard. I have eastern blue birds, buntings, and have even seen a painting bunting. But very few cardinals. Only when my grapes get ripe do I see them, or it could be a coincidence. What am I doing wrong?

rthummer, they like black oil sunflower seeds. I don't have any in my yard, but they do come eat sometimes. I do have a pair at the cabin. I find them kind of skittish.

skittish...I have never heard of Cardinals building this close to people. Wren's yes ...but these Cardinals have been around for awhile. We have a dog and cat that are often on that porch.

I have hanging feeders full of black oil sunflower seeds but the titmouse nuthatch, and chichadee occupy them. The only time I see the cardinals are when the grapevine are full and they will fly in and out of branches and vines. I am not sure they are eating grapes are not. Doesn't matter, though there is plenty now as there is only dh and me and I don't put by as much jelly and juice as I use to.

Aren't they precious! Thank you for getting that photo! Another thing to attract them is safflower, they love it.

They're not the prettiest babies, are they! I sure hope you're able to snap another couple of pictures as they grow and post them here. I'd love to see them develop into the beauties they will become. We have very few cardinals here, and that's one thing I miss from my former home back in Minnesota. Gary tells me there are a few here, but I've yet to see one and I've been here a year.
