He's just marking the bed as his territory. He doesn't know why you'd have a problem with that. If you wanted it -- YOU would have already peed on it... I have 11 dogs, down from 12. They are rescues and some are going to be rehomed and some are here to stay. When I had #12 she and her sister had pee wars on my bed and I was ready to kill them. 55 pound pit bull mixes make a lot of widdle! Now Katie is in her new home and Hannah no longer has to compete with her so the sprinkling has stopped. They do still pee on the dog beds though especially my domiant tiny Shih tzu/Yorkie girl. Get your little darling neutered when its time and make it plain the bed is YOURS and not his and it will help. I'd also block access to the bed until he is older. By the way doing dominace rolls with a small puppy can scare him. They are falling out of favor as a way to deal with breeds like Rotties and pits and that's not a bad thing. Savanna is improving--I've taught her "off" and "wait," 'tho she still forgets when excited. To avoid overenthusiastic greetings of visitors, She's learned to sit when seeing the typical human defensive posture (step backward, hands thrown up)--all my dogs learn this in case they encounter someone who's afraid of dogs. She's even learned to play carefully or resist the play overtures of her basenji brother under certain conditions to avoid trashing the house. She's a very anxious dog, not surprising given her background. Physical contact is reassuring for her, so I've also taught her to target my hand so she'll have a "secret" bonding signal in places where she might become nervous. I'm finding calm demeanor & quiet verbal corrections work best with her. She's very timid, so more aggressive corrections would frighten her since she's still not accustomed to humans--she was born & grew up without an owner, running loose on a reserve.

Greetings from another Oscar mommy - my Oscar is 17 with CRF + heart disease. He is also a horrendously picky eater - refuses k/d food and any pate style food - he only tolerates Friskies pouched food these days (chicken and salmon) and Wellness Indoor kibble - he's still mourning the loss of his Science Diet Savoury Cuts (recall casualty). And he drinks lots, I know he's unwell when the volume of urine in the litter boxes goes down. Definitely get your Oscar checked for an infection. My Oscar is prone to them due to a kidney stone in his shrunken kidney - he couldn't tolerate Clavamox for his last infection (last summer) and ended up on a very strong antiobiotic which helped. Low grade infections really do a number on their kidneys and that your Oscar is peeing outside the box certainly indicates he's unhappy about something. I'd definitely get another urinalysis done and get them to culture it to see what grows, if anything, and check for crystals. General consenus with CRF cats is just feed them what they'll eat. Use phosphorous binders to to keep the phos. in check (I'm supposed to be using one with my Oscar but he doesn't like it). My Oscar is on no kidney meds except for a liquid B vitimin supplement and he's on meds for his heart disease (a diuretic due to fluid build-up in his chest - probably the worst kind of drug for a CRF cat!). I agree with what has already been posted, I will just add a few. *First. I have a Hound/Shepard that I adopted about 2.5 years ago. At the time I got her, she was about 45 lbs and of course not house trained. She did the same thing. I have trained many dogs, she is the third female of the household, and she would just look me straight in the eye, squat and pee on the floor. It took me about 9 months to train her, typical training techniques used on other dogs simply did not apply here. *You mention that the vet said she was O.K., I assume this means a UTI was ruled out (this may or may not have been part of my problems). Also, assuming she is spayed, you need to rule out spaying incontinence, something else I had to deal with. It may or may not take this form. This is becoming more typical for numerous reasons, good news, it's easily treated. *After these two issues are completely, without question ruled out, you need to consider that you are the 4th or 5th different human for this dog. Some dogs deal with being bounced around, some don't (mine was completely traumatized before I came along at 4 months by it). All this time later, I am still dealing with it. *Doing things already suggested, and getting the dog on a schedule etc. she can depend on, is key to any house training issue. Additionally, you need to consider that, after ruling out medical issues, you might be dealing with a 4 year old dog, that is acting like a 4 month old dog. For some reason, she just has never "gotten it". The key is to figure out why, be it medical or otherwise. The only way (take it from me and tons of frustration) you are going to figure out what the behavior problem is and correct it, it to treat the dog like a 4 month old pup. This means: *Supervision every second, with a leash (yes that's what I said, it's work, but worth it) for at least a month (maybe more!) when dog is not crated. You simply must commit yourself to this no matter what it takes. Lots of people make more out of this than it really is. Offer your dog a toy or bone, a soft bed, make her lay where you can constantly keep an eye on her. She needs to make progress before being allowed unsupervised freedom. *The instant the dog comes out of the crate, no matter what, (don't stop to put your shoes or clothes on) take the dog out, and when she squats to pee or poop, use tons of praise, say "good poop" or "good pee", go crazy with high pitched voice praise and pets, and give a quality treat used for this purpose only. IF the dog does nothing, crate her when you go back in, wait for a while, and repeat. The idea is to get the dog used to going out when she comes out of the crate. It will give her something to look forward to and build a schedule on. Eventually, you work your way to going out the door. *When she starts to squat and go inside when you are supervising her, instantly in a very loud voice say "STOP" (you may need to clap your hands or pound on a table), anything to get the dogs attention, grab her leash, and out you go. When she goes outside, do the praise treat thing. Your goal should be building on small successes the dog has, turning them into larger ones, having no accidents for 9 months, and getting her weaned from the crate. All of this may take a while given her age, it may not. Either way, it is something that simply must be corrected and this is the easiest, best way to do it. Good luck! SG
