I also had great luck with foxglove and lupines last year and am waiting for them to bloom this year. I gave lots away to my friends and I have planted more this year. Delphiniums are the only things that did not germinate but I am trying again this year. Columbine and tall verbena were also a success. I am looking for new things to try and some alternative seed varieties that are not found in the stores.

Hiya everyone! I had the best time yesterday playin in the dirt and planning my garden ideas :) :) :) I promise I'll get that list of wants up here.. I just haven't had the time! My son who has been in and out of the hospital constantly the past 4 years (all during high school) and he has had to be on homebound/tutoring has decided to go to prom tonight. I had 3 days notice lol But we got him a tux and since he doesn't drive yet I guess I'll be driving him back n forth to it tonight down in Atlanta. (ATL traffic....eek!) And today I was w/ my mom up at the hospital to get her another CT scan. She's battling some nasty cancer right now. AND then my other son has a skateboard competition Saturday, and my daughter has her first soccer game on Saturday and there's an arts/crafts festival I wanna go to, and my mom needs us to come over and work in her yard a bit since she can't get out to do it.. then I also gotta go to my brother's house to plant a pink dogwood we bought them. (memorial for the baby they just lost in utero. :( .... ) sooooo my next few days are gonna be SERIOUSLY jampacked! But I'll jump on when I get a lil time and will get that list up for ya hopefully by Sun eve at the latest! :) Hugs to all and HAPPY FRIDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! woohoooo ~Wendy/Sassy

Ahh yes, the math skills are really horrible (I don't know if this is just an epidemic in WV or if the whole US is calculator spoiled). I'll never forget one time I was at McDonald's and my total came to something like $4.96 and I gave her a $5...she messed up the register and was completely lost as to how much to give me back. I said "it's just 4 cents, don't worry about it"...but she said "well, then my register will be off"...so I waited for her to go get her supervisor who proceeded to use a calculator to figure up my change. I was completely dumbfounded. I'm not sure those were the exact amounts..but it was very simple math...so sad. The bad thing is I've seen several examples similar to this. For a short while while I was in college, I worked at Shoney's. I ended up quitting after about a month or so because the supervisor kept forcing me to work over when I had exams yo study for and things I really needed to get home to...but when I went in to quit, the manager came into the office and tried to talk me out of it because they had been having trouble finding people who can count back change! Amazing to me.

Josephine--glad someone else has GE as their favorite hosta, it's been my top choice since I first saw the picture of it on the second edition of the Aden book. Now there are quite a number of GEs in various spots in my garden, it's still my favorite. My largest plant tops out at 31-32 inches tall and not quite 6 feet in diameter. You are going to love Northern Exposure, a mature plant is simply spectacular. A woman I know has one just at the entrance to her garden, and people literally stop and stare in amazement at how gorgeous it is. Blue Umbrellas, while not as showy, is also an excellent variety that stands out in any garden. BU will get much larger than you expect, given optimal conditions, it will easily be 6 feet across.
