lol Kay. Well I am crazy about variegated plants in general. And once I started collecting daylilies well naturally collecting (all) the variegated ones went to the top of the list. So I placed several orders with on-line vendors that I had never ordered from to get those variegated ones... so I (naturally) would add a few more. Some are stunning others have subtle variegation. One is about a week away from FFE can't wait for that one! I check that bud stalk every day makin' sure no critters are chewing on it. Golden Zebra and it is a stunner, and never reverts back. The hybridizer even patented it. Sequim Rare Plants is where I found it. Was going to go add a few more of it & they were sold out. I ordered their Kwanso Variegata also since theirs is a double. I had ordered from Robin at Earlybirds her Kwanso too but their was no description of the flower. And I read that their is a variegated double & a single. So hoping that I've ended up with both. And added also a variegated helleborus Janet Starnes. She's a pretty one too. Sequim sent healthy robust plants so I'll be ordering from them again. Do you like variegated plants? Rena'

40 yrs ago, when I lived in Watertown, we used to go to Devils Lake fairly often. It an amazing spot for unusual plants and animals. Like its' own ecosystem. Rattlesnakes used to live there, along with some desert plants. Ask the ranger if you could collect some flower heads (full of seeds) from the shooting stars. If yes, plant in very sandy soil, as they want lots of drainage. Pondy

sigh.....'giving fair warning' whilst placing man traps - what, accidents aren't going to happen? I can think of a dozen different scenarios where people who might have good, just cause to enter a property - fire dept, police, a neighbour who sees your house on fire - a child who wanders off, lost, too young to read, etc etc - it's all ok because you gave 'fair warning?' I've never said it was ok for people to trespass. I don't particularly want people to trespass on my place, but I have all along argued for a sense of proportion, and to take steps which are PASSIVE like bollards etc - rather than aggressive ACTIVE means like spikes etc. People set themselves up for tragedy - with all the good intentions in the world - then wonder or weep and wail when the unthinkable happens....or harden their hearts and say they 'gave fair warning' Personally I'm very glad I live in a place where home owners DON'T have the right to take actions such as these. I actually feel safer - and know that I AM safer that way. Case in point (uh-oh, here we go) - gun ownership. Similar numbers of guns in Canada per capita, far fewer murders (by guns or other means) in Canada per capita than in the US. My theory? People in the US with these 'castle laws' and others expect the worst - and generally, when you expect the worst, you tend to find it. It's funny but that seems to be how it works. Sheesh. 'night all.
