lol Kay. Well I am crazy about variegated plants in general. And once I started collecting daylilies well naturally collecting (all) the variegated ones went to the top of the list. So I placed several orders with on-line vendors that I had never ordered from to get those variegated ones... so I (naturally) would add a few more. Some are stunning others have subtle variegation. One is about a week away from FFE can't wait for that one! I check that bud stalk every day makin' sure no critters are chewing on it. Golden Zebra and it is a stunner, and never reverts back. The hybridizer even patented it. Sequim Rare Plants is where I found it. Was going to go add a few more of it & they were sold out. I ordered their Kwanso Variegata also since theirs is a double. I had ordered from Robin at Earlybirds her Kwanso too but their was no description of the flower. And I read that their is a variegated double & a single. So hoping that I've ended up with both. And added also a variegated helleborus Janet Starnes. She's a pretty one too. Sequim sent healthy robust plants so I'll be ordering from them again. Do you like variegated plants? Rena'

I picked a varigated one up at Home Depot last fall. They do get pinkish at times. They seem almost maintenance free once established, but will NOT tolerate a hard freeze. That one night it dipped into the 20's in february hammered the poor thing. But the cool thing about them is that since they grow in little sectional pieces, they simply die back to the next section, and grow new branches from there. Now that I have several plants giving it a wind break it should do better this winter. Marcia, I'm in Lake Mary, so if you don't get a cutting from Gary you are welcome to a piece of mine.

OJ, I try so hard to make my words sweet, but I'm afraid I fail miserable. At least "salty" isn't as bad as "drunken sailor"! I've tried to limit "real" swearing to "Oh Helles Belles." I've sworn to myself to never use the "OMG" that is seen and heard everywhere. I've bit my tongue until it's bled, but now I say "Gracious" or "Oh Gracious" in its stead. As for salt...I've just about reached 100% salt free. For the first few months I thought I'd die from lack of "flavor" in my foods. Now, everything salt free tastes fine; if I eat anything processed I almost gag from the saltiness.

Thank you Ingrid. The big West Mims Fire/Okeefenokee Swamp and Wildlife Refuge fire has grown by leaps and bounds. We were getting ash from that one yesterday and its 42 miles away. Its pretty much all woods in this part of the state. Still pretty far from us but wow ashes floating that far.. Yesterday, a whole leaf that was white ash landed on my hand. A perfectly formed leaf but ash..ghostlike. I was gonna take a picture of it but it disintegrated when I moved my hand lol. Whenever the wind is just right we get smoke and ash. I feel really sorry for all the wildlife. It is an important habitat for migrating birds. Some people closer to the fire are being evacuated. They were just letting it burn naturally (like the Yellowstone Fires in 1988) but now its 3 times the size of Miami and getting out of control and encroaching on communities where people live so they are actively fighting it now. They say its too big to put out now and may burn till November! Crazy!
