Yesterday I was working on my computer and could hear this funny clunking noise coming from the kitchen. So I went to investigate....

Think that's a fig tree Jodi!! Sure has a lot of beetles on it.My neighbors on both sides have them and the song birds love them.

Figs are that big Kathi? Those beetles were large ... 1.0" - 1.5" long.

Kath, I'm not sure they were Asian pears, they seemed a little hard, round and small for the Asian variety. I almost thought they were walnuts. I tried to flag down a park ranger guy to ask him about the tree and the beetles but he was busy talking to other folks for so long that I gave up.

Kat and Jodi if you look just up above where the beetles are you'll see a fig that is almost ripe.My neighbors are always trying to give me some,but i hate them,only like them in fig newtons,not fresh from the trees.YUK !!

I also have asian pears.

Jodi-looks like it may be an apple tree of some kind.Those look like what we called June Bugs when we were kids.We would tie a string around one of their back legs and they would fly around while we held the string.
I was curious so I looked it up.Their larvae is the white grub worm.We use to have them here but DH and I were just discussing that we haven't seen any in the last couple of years.Wonder why??

Thanks for finding info on my beetles Lillie! Not sure it was an apple tree. I looked carefully at the fruit and didn't recognize it.
