This Spring is the first time I've discovered a Tufted Titmouse nest in my orchard - I saw one of the pair picking up wet leaves and/or mud and flying to the old apple tree and into a small hole in a branch. I know they are cavity nesters but as I said never got to see them actually setting up home. Love the owl pics.

When we first moved to Southern CA 35 years ago we spent a good deal of time in Long Beach because DH was in the Navy. There were a couple of cute little islands right off the coast that looked so pretty at night all lit up. I was jealous of whoever it was that could afford to live such an exotic life. Then one day I was told the truth ... they are oil refineries dressed up to look like a proper
community. LOL

Sorry the pictures are so crooked, we were driving by when I took them. A drive by shooting as it were. :-)

Correction. I think I used the wrong terminology. The LB islands above house oil derricks for drilling, not refineries.

After cleaning my Patio yesterday, this is what I woke up to. Oak Pollen everywhere. Houston News said low Pollen Count today. But, I'm 80 miles West and it sure isn't the case here.

I should have mentioned, there are four of these camouflaged oil drilling/pumping islands off the Long Beach coast, each named after one of the Apollo astronauts that died.
