Oh boy can I do squirrels!! This feeder has been keeping these guys...and me...busy! Still haven't found a place that they can't get at it.
It is just too funny to watch them figure out how to get to it.

How about my squirrely family? My cousin Barbara (the artist), her brother John (isn't he cute?), and me.

Another squirrel chaser...

Here are my squirrels. Meet Sidney and Seymour. I found them as "pinkies" out in the backyard a few years ago. The two of them were the size of a pen.I raised them to be old enough to be let out in the wild again.

I carried them in my shirt pocket, and took them with me, if I were going to be away for any length of time....e.g. to my parents at Thanksgiving. They needed to be fed every 2 hours.

That's Sidney on my ficus plant, learning to climb, and eating her first peanut.

Without a word of a lie, when my ex-husband and I took them to the woods, we put them at a base of a large tree, and put a bunch of veggies and nuts at the base. They ran up the tree, then **scampered down, ran up my arms to nuzzle my neck**then they took off. I cried like a baby!!!
(I'd do it again in a heartbeat)

Nicole, did not see a single squirrel in Panama. Did see a sloth however but don't think I got a good pic of it.

The squirrel photo was taken at the Huntington Library Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, CA last year.

With over 3,500 photos and out of town company coming for a four day visit this weekend, it will be a while before I get my photos uploaded.

Cruise, Mexico, Central and South America were AWESOME!!!

Jasdip, what a lovely experience you had with the squirrels. What did you feed a baby squirrel?

They had to be fed a clear liquid to build nutrients, that I got from an animal rehabber. It's basically the liquid that is in iv's for humans.

As they got a little older they were fed this solution mixed with powdered milk.....gradually increasing the milk. Then it was on to Pablum, then peanuts, walnuts, almonds, broccoli, carrots, brussels sprouts.

They'd chortle when they saw me, and I was definitely their mother-figure. Poor ex....he picked one up, and Seymour bit him! So he was glad to let me continue being the caretaker.

We got a bigger cage for them, and I put a branch inside, so they could learn to run along it and balance. When their tails get real bushy, it's time for them to be set free. I had them about 3-4 months. My cat didn't bother them at all, she sniffed them and let them be. These guys, would probably eat them!

I'd post a picture, but..... would end up being permanently banned from this site. So not worth it.
