This is how January should look....

But, we have no snow and it's going to be 45 today. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying.

Jasdip, a good friend of mine is the photographer for the local orchid society. She has dozens of orchids, all barren right now. I hosted a dinner party back in early October and my guests brought me a lovely butterfly orchid, my very first orchid of any kind. Of course I asked my orchid photographer friend how to take care of it and what to expect. She told me how to water it and to expect all the blossoms to fall off soon and to not assume it was dead. Three months later and my orchid still looks incredible! In fact, I took a photo of it this morning to send to the gal who gave it to me. And to take back my promise to her that I would surely kill it immediately. :-) I will post that photo tomorrow. But today is a photo I took on last Saturday's hike in the local mountains. Jodi-

You got it, Nichole. My frog has seen all sorts of weather, but he was peeking out of the snow and begging for someone to take a picture. The corn was for the doves. They only come to be fed when there is snow on the ground and I want to thank them for all the summer evenings they share their voices.

If you look closely you can see a car heading down our road, right in front of the stand of trees. This happens to us every couple of years, we are snowed in and have to call for the highlift!

The snow pictures are gorgeous BUT, I agree, no snow is better...
Living in SW. Pa., we usually get our share but so far this year, it's been great....I also think, one of these days, we're going to get hit and hit hard....That's one reason I'm heading for Florida in a week or so......

The ranch conservancy that protects the area I hiked on Saturday (I'm a regular there) posted this picture on their Facebook page today. Proof that it does get darn chilly in So. Calif. assuming you get up early enough.
