I had gotten a spent orchid on Freecycle, and asked here, how to get it to hopefully bloom again.

Well, here it is, with a number of buds and a bloom! I'm thrilled that I got it to re-bloom!

They required a baby picture from the seniors for the annual. We sent this one over today. I was tempted to clean up his sweet face, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Warts and all, my baby :) I took it forever ago, but my computer didn't scan it very well, that's the bigger problem with the exposure and his very dark eyes. He actually has hazel, so what's up with the demon eyes?

You must truly be gifted to get an orchid to come back to life. I have tried and failed many times!!! Good for you.

Jasdip, a good friend of mine is the photographer for the local orchid society. She has dozens of orchids, all barren right now.

I hosted a dinner party back in early October and my guests brought me a lovely butterfly orchid, my very first orchid of any kind. Of course I asked my orchid photographer friend how to take care of it and what to expect. She told me how to water it and to expect all the blossoms to fall off soon and to not assume it was dead.

Three months later and my orchid still looks incredible! In fact, I took a photo of it this morning to send to the gal who gave it to me. And to take back my promise to her that I would surely kill it immediately. :-) I will post that photo tomorrow. But today is a photo I took on last Saturday's hike in the local mountains.

Jake and Josey...Our daughters animals...Jake is the hairy one and he was a lone pet until DD went back to school and she got Josey to keep Jake company and they are totally inseparable. Jake is Joseys Lord and Master and he does her bidding....LOL

They are pictured here in their favorite spot on the back of the couch....They are precious animals but.....they are like little bouncing balls moving from one spot to another and on and on and on........

Great pics and comments about the orchid! It really likes the sun, and another flower opened yesterday because it was sunny.
