arrgh. MAde a special trip with the digital camera to get a few shots of the plants, and to my amazement and disgust, the township had mowed the roadside clear up to the banks. Usually out here in the sticks the weeds would be so high you couldn't see oncoming cars at a lonely intersection and now in the middle of a drought they mowed. I found only one scrawny, pathetic survivor and got a few shots, but my camera skills are not worth discussing and the camera no better. I am wondering now if it might be whorled milkweed after all. Wish I had been there ahead of the bush hog. BTW...esh ga, it's definitely not a spurge, although that is a good suggestion. The biggest specimen already had pods on it, and had I not procrastinated I could have shown them to everybody.

Thank you, Kristy (did i get your name right?) "technically", my average low for the coldest month, which is January, is 35F, making me a zone 10a. OF course we all know that we could get a night 5 or 6 degrees colder just as easily as we can get a night 5 or 6 degrees warmer. We get a handfull of light frosts every year but the frost melts as soon as the sun comes out. That's why i think zone 9b best describes my area, like much of central and southern California are zone 9. I think our sunset zones, set specifically for the west coast, work better to distinguish one zone 9 from another. My sunset zone also happens to be 9. Eloise, what is your sunset zone? Thanks Eloise, I sowed them once about three years ago, and they never fail to come back every year. This year theres a limited variety of colors. I basically only have these two colors. In previous years, i've had close to 10 different colored impatiens come up, and two of them were purple with white spots and pink with white spots. By the way, Eloise, i have the papaver somniferum seeds that you wanted. Please email me your address so i can get them out to you.

Hi Mike! I looovvveeee your variegated clivia!!! What is it? Summer???? It seemed like we didn't have summer here in VA! All these rain sure is keeping me MORE busy spraying fungicides. LOL! Here is one of my favorite clivias. It is a variegated Daruma and it's widest leaf is now almost 4 inches wide. It has 9 leaves now. See why I need to spray??? Ughhh!!! What would be the best fungicide that can take care of these leaf rots???

suzieque, Sissy is my fur kid. There's a picture of her somewhere around here but I don't think we got any of her this weekend. Well, Lydia's dad took one I think. I didn't take any pictures but wish I had.
