Oh, what a mess!! Thank heavens it didn't stain.

I remember posting here a couple of years ago about not trying to swallow two large vitamin pills at once. That was the time they got stuck in my throat. I was by myself, and for a while I was afraid I was in real trouble. But at least it didn't involve chocolate bubbles. :-)

You swallowed 2 of those big vitamins? I have a hard time getting one down my throat. Yikes!

I've warned this forum about this before but I did it again tonight so guess we all need to be told again....Do NOT get in the habit of licking your fingers before you empty the lint filter on your dryer. Why? Because sometimes you forget the order and lick them AFTER you empty the lint filter!! Ppppp....spit...ugh....

Don't shake anything that is hot. I found this out when I shook hot water and flour in a sealed tupperware. For some reason, it expands almost immediately and blows the cover.

Don't put a jar of applesauce in a cupboard of a motor home. It turns into an applesauce bomb.
At least it wasn't spaghetti sauce!

never try to cook a boiled egg in the microwave. I was with my best friend at a condo in Florida when she did that. I'm not even sure why. I was outside getting the grill going when I heard a huge bang. You wouldn't think a couple of eggs could splatter into so many places.

Actually, there is a slight danger of any liquid heated in the microwave exploding. Even a cup of water, can, under some conditions, explode all over the person taking it out of the microwave (without even shaking at all). Best not to use the microwave for heating liquids at all--definitely teach your children to NEVER heat liquids in the microwave. It has something to do with the super-excitement of the molecules of the liquid.

Years ago sister put ice cream in blender then some coke ( she was just a kid) yep you guessed we spent hours cleaning ice cream off the ceiling before mom got home. Years later this same sister did the egg trick in the microwave after being warned never to do this. The egg exploded just as she opened the door and piece landed on her face. She now has a burn scar on her cheek. Never never do this! Linda you and your friend was lucky you didn't open the door. I since have preached and preached to my kids and now my grandkids never open the microwave right away.

Eons ago I decided to make wine with the grapes growing on the porch. I used the gallon jug-with-a-balloon-on-the-top system. Things were perking along quite well, I thought, until one day I heard a loud pop, and there were remnants of wine all over the ceiling and walls of my freshly painted bedroom. (Don't even ask why I had the wine in the bedroom!)

Not a food warning, but if you ever get into bed and notice one of your fingernails is jagged, don't be lazy like me and think "I'll just file it in the morning." I did that recently and must have scratched my legs while sleeping because I looked like Edward Scissorhands had gotten to me during the night! I woke up wondering what the heck happened until I looked at my hand and saw the nail I should have filed.

P.S. Anne, my sister thinks she knew your brother from Customs, after I talked with her I added a post that's back around page 6 or 7 in case you didn't catch it.

Oh, what a mess, I'm glad that didn't happen to me. Or to Woody, which would be much more likely! lol 'Cause when a guy makes a big mess, we end up getting to clean it up. Why is that? Bad enough we have to clean up our own messes!

Don't forget to put the coffee pot under the drain hole of the maker. The first time I did that, all four drawers below it filled with coffee, I had to wash all the silverware, all the utensils, towels and mop up around the foil and plastic wrap. The SECOND time, I got lucky, it didn't make it to the edge of the counter before I noticed it. Sheesh.

Don't bake in black. Or, IF you bake whilst wearing black, don't answer the door, or go out. Or, if you bake whilst wearing black, be neat, or at the very least, don't put floured hands on your fanny, then answer the door or go out... Not that it happened to me or anything.

and make sure the top is closed on the chocolate syrup when shaking to mix it up. Makes a lovely pattern on the ceiling and wall, kinda like a crime scene episode!

Don't use foil throw away pans unless they are on a cookie sheet for extra support. Need I say more....

If you bake a cheesecake, be sure to put it on a cookie sheet first. Don't set it directly on the slots of the oven rack. I did that and molten cheesecake spilled all over my oven interior. Smelled ok the first day, but extremely sticky to clean off and smelled terrible afterwards.

Since, we're on the microwave subject, here's another one. If you use a plastic lid to cover a bowl when microwaving, don't cover the bowl entirely. Leave some opening to vent out. Otherwise, the heat will act as a vacuum and will tighten the lid and it's not easy to open when it's hot. Not to mention, the mess that may cause.

If that happens, one safe way to open it is to run it under cool water.

Don't poke tiny airholes in the bottom of the can of pumpkin when you are making pies. It DOES allow the pumpkin to slide out of the open end of the can, but if you thump the can on the mixing bowl to facilitate the slide, it leaves a pattern of orange dots on your ceiling!!! (much to the delight of little granddaughters and DS)

Don't carry your Christmas tree upstairs and through the computer room if you can take it up outside, and come in the balcony door! DUH!

About half of my life is "don't do this" moments ROFL.

Like the time I was pureeing hot beets. The second I pressed that blend button, the steam forced the lid off the blender and hot magenta chaos spewed everywhere.

Or the time I accidentally set the microwave to full power instead of defrost to warm a block of margarine and came back to find lake margarine in the microwave and a waterfall of grease careening over the edge and onto the counter below, then down the drawer fronts, to the floor. Messy messy messy!

Once I dropped a can of pop in the kitchen, where the pop-top opened only slightly. The can proceeded to spin and spit and spew a geiser of soda EVERYWHERE. All I could do was scream and laugh hysterically.

Dances - at least you smell like chocolate!

Don't put a 3 gallon plastic jug of frozen peanut oil in a nice warm living room on the NEW carpet to thaw!!! What was *HE* thinking??? The D in DH did not stand for "dear" for weeks after that little episode.

PS - that oil NEVER comes out of the carpet.

My DH did that once with a huge bottle of HOT SAUCE that he brought home from Barbados. The lid was not on tightly and it exploded over everything when he shook it! I found dried hot sauce for weeks in my kitchen after I thought I had cleaned it all up.
Oh, and if you store anything in the oven,like a frying pan with a plastic spatula still in it, don't tell your DH to turn on the oven!

Glad you're ok.I also use a tupperware shaker cup for my hot chocolate.But i put the milk in the cup,leaving about 2 " from the top,then when it's hot i add the chocolate powder.Never had a problem.

Anyone remember having to sterilize baby bottles?? When i had my first son 48 years ago,i put the sterilizer on the stove one night then went in the living room to fold diapers(yes we did that back in the day.Think i must have dozed off because i woke up quickly to this awful smell.I snapped to quickly ,went in the kitchen and realized what it was.But since i was a new mom,had never experienced anything like this before.So i opened the lid of the sterilizer and burnt nipples shot all over my kitchen,walls ,ceiling,cabinets,floor,kinda like anne's chocolate.What a mess!! Dh wasn't home as he was a Marine and was tdy at that time.So i spent most of the night cleaning the kitchen.

I'm troubled about the choc. in microwave, as I put choc. milk, choc. (in water) and coffee (in water, or milk) - (all in open containers) to heat in the microwave routinely.

(Crossing fingers) ... no trouble yet.

If you put liquid in the microwave, put a plastic straw or plastic spoon in the glass/mug/jar while microwaving. It will break the surface tension of the liquid so it won't explode when jarred after heating.

When I was a little kid (eons ago) the biggest treat was to have a bottle of homemade root beer. When Dad finally said yes I raced down stairs, grabbed a bottle and ran back up, plopped it down on the kitchen table for Mom to open. When the cap came off root beer hit the ceiling and dripped down all over moms freshly washed eggs (about 200 of them). "Ronald, did you shake that bottle of root beer as you came up the stairs?" "Noooo..." Lets just say it was a looong time before I got root beer again.

Gee, I'm glad I'm not the only stupid person who does things like that. Here's another tip...do not overheat your cold coffee in the microwave, and then put creamer in it...yep, it EXPLODES!

OK, while we're on the subject...I left a can of pepsi in my ex's brand new shiny black Corvette in 100+ degree weather. He had let me use it while my car was in the shop. You can imagine what happened - something only good auto detailer could fix!!
