If interested I make a delicious punch bowl cake

This is one of my favorite punches. It's nice because you make it ahead...even weeks ahead and can assemble when you need it.

I would recommend letting the frozen punch set in the fridge for a few hours to thaw a little; mine took a longer time to turn slushy than the recipe noted.

Cranberry Orange Punch

2 bottles (32oz each) Cranberry juice
1 cup lemon juice
2/3 cup sugar
2 cans (12 oz each) orange soda

Mix cranberry juice, lemon juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Right before serving, add orange soda. Garnish with orange slices, frozen cranberries and ice ring.

Glenda, I'd love to have your punch bowl cake recipe. I'd never heard of it before and it sounds like something that might be fun to make!

I don't want to over take the thread with my recipes, but I do use my punch bowl a lot! I make trifles in it sometimes.

Here's a trifle recipe that's really good. You can substitute and play around with it however you like.

It's generally has angel food cake, whipped topping, pudding, strawberries, and other fruit layered in it.

Here's a chocolate trifle with brownies, choc. pudding, swt. condensed milk, whipped topping, etc. It's very easy! And adults and kids both seem to really like it.

Floating Island Punch (old recipe)

1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup water
6 oz. can frozen orange juice
6 oz. can frozen white grape juice
1 quart ginger ale
1 quart sparkling water or club soda
4 oz. bottle of maraschino cherries
1 orange sliced thinly
1 pint lemon or orange sherbet

Heat sugar and water until sugar is dissolved. Cool. Combine fruit juices, sugar water, fruit and add sherbet. Add ice or ice ring. Pour in the ginger ale and sparkling water. I always double this recipe for our family.

Sue's Strawberry Punch

1 can of frozen strawberry daiquiri concentrate
1 can frozen white grape juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 small container of frozen strawberries with syrup
1 pint strawberry sherbet
2 quarts sparkling water or club soda

Cook sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, then add the concentrated juices and strawberries. Add ice, sherbet and the sparkling water or club soda.

This is my recipe I made up for a different punch. They all like this one too.

Punch bowl cake

1 box yellow cake mix

Bake in sheet pan according to package directions. Cool.

1 can blueberry pie filling

1 can cherry pie filling

2 large cans crushed pineapple (drained)

1 large + 1 small box vanilla instant pudding (mix according to package directions)

2 (8 oz) cartons of cool whip (thawed)

1 cup chopped pecans

1 small jar cherries

1 large punch bowl

Bottom Layer:

Divide cake in half. Crumble half in the bottom of large punch bowl. Layer 1 can pineapple, 1 can pie filling, 1/2 pudding, 1 bag cool whip.

Top Layer:

Crumble remaining half of cake. Layer 1 can pineapple, 1 can pie filling, other half of pudding, 1 carton cool whip.

Top with pecan and cherries

This is one I use all the time, handed down from my sister. I'm asked for the recipe about every time I make it for some affair.

Party Punch
1 cherry koolaid
Lg. frozen orange juice (makes 2 qts.)
Lg. can pineapple juice
1 cup sugar
Small lemonade or 1/4 cup lemon juice
6 juice cans water (use the orange juice can)
2 large Vernors
Raspberry sherbet to dollop on top

Mocha Punch

2 quarts water
1 cup Nesquik Chocolate powder
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup instant coffee
1 quart milk
1/2 gallon chocolate & vanilla ice cream
1 tub cool whip

Bring water to a boil. Add Nesquik, sugar, and coffee, remove from heat and stir well, until all is dissolved. Put in freezer until slushy, 30 minutes before serving add 1 quart of milk and ice cream by the scoopful; stir until ice cream starts melting. Add cool whip and serve.

Glenda, thank you! That sounds scrumptious. So do the trifle recipes that you posted, Carla! I've printed all three off and will make them one by one! We're invited to my daughter-in-laws parent's home for dinner Christmas Eve, so I'm going to ask if I could bring one of these. Will have to decide which. Then will also choose at least one of the punch recipes to try out Christmas week as well. Yum!!!!

I think punch is one of those things that can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. We had a punch bowl set up at our Christmas party at work, and it was simply cranberry juice, a can of lemonade concentrate, and ginger ale. Folks raved about it... and it couldn't have been any easier.

rillie, I think you're right. Sometimes I mix some punch from a 2liter with some OJ and white soda. It tastes pretty good! (although that citrus ginger punch does sound unique--may have to give it a try)

I think the key for using a punch bowl is more in the presentation. If you're going to break out the puch bowl. I'd try to have a ice ring or make a slushy one and put some sliced fruit (oranges and cherries, etc) in it. Otherwise, you can just put everything in a pitcher and serve it.

Oh hey, don't forget about adding alcohol if you want. You can find many punch recipes that add champagne or vodka. etc...

Lime Punch
1-48oz can unsweetened pineapple juice
2 cans frozen lime-ade, undiluted
1/2 cup liquid honey
1/2 cup sugar - optional (I omit and add a little more honey)
2 large bottles of 7 up ( the 750 ml size) ( I buy the 2 litre ones and use 6 cups)

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large punch bowl. Add lime slices if you wish and ice.
At serving time, add the 7 up.

I actually mix the first ingredients a head of time and freeze them so that they are ready at any time. Just thaw out a few hours before you want it and then add the seven-up at the last minute.

I have a real cheap punch bowl set. If it turns hot on a holiday, I like to make a punch with frozen strawberries that we all love. It has been years and years since it was warm enough.

I also love a tomato and tiny shrimp drink that you mix in a pitcher.
